    Google Maps vs Blackberry Maps

I have been using Google Maps for awhile, integrated with Poynt.
The connection between the two apps always seemed slow, so I decided to try BB Maps.
I have to admit that I'm impressed. The search options seem better and just works much quicker. I never thought Blackberry would have a better product than Google, so I think I'll keep it.
Anyone else have any opinions between the two apps?

I used both (not anymore) but when I did I preferred BB Maps just for the fact that it didn't cause a memory leak like Google Maps did.

    Thanks, that good to know.
It seems logical that when an app runs quicker than another that does the same thing, the memory leakage would be less, true?

Compared to the other 3rd party apps and themes IMO google maps is less of leak that many of those. I have both google maps and BB maps and 99% of the time I go with google. I like the interface better, it's faster and more accurate. V3.0.2 of google maps has very little memory leak. However, if you see latitude (which I don't) that's where I hear a lot of the leak comes into play. Just my two cents.

I like google maps better, but the GPS won't work with VZW curve. So for functionality bb maps has my vote.
No matter where you go, there you are

I prefer Google maps just for the fact that when I use Poynt, I can't get driving directions from BB Maps.

Ever since I upgraded to v7 and didn't put google maps back on my phone I haven't really had any memory leak. I never tried BB Maps so I will put that on my phone and see how it works.

I agree plus the UI in BB maps sucks IMO. I'll take google maps and the memory leak that comes with it

Google Maps all the way. I like the interface better. I also use Latitude or stalker maps as my friends and I call it. I don't notice any major memory leak with the latest version. I have it running my location all the time.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum...and I thought i would express my opinion.
I work on the BBmaps product at RIM, and even though I beleive google maps may be a more "pretty" product..it does not come close in user friendliness or functionality of BBmaps...
and keep an eye out on bbmaps for the next 6 months when 5.0 releases...you may be impressed...uttahere:

Sorry but I have to disagree with you on this IMHO. I'm all about user friendly and really could care less about how it looks. Google maps is much more user friendly quicker and all around a better app. What annoys me about BB maps is that if it can't find your location, which is quite often, you are not able to user any of the search functions (and when it does it says you are Grand Rapids, MI when I am in Los Angeles). Whereas with Google maps, it use triangulation as a default in case you are indoors and need to look something up. I really hope 5.0 is better but right now google maps is on another level. Just my two cents.
