Thread: CrunshSMS Updated to version 3.8

CrunshSMS, the awesome BlackBerry SMS Program which allows you to have bubble chats similar to the iPhone has been updated! It is free for 7days, after that it remains free with a small ad banner. You can buy the license for cheap to remove the banner but that's not mandatory

Version 3.8 Feature List

• You can now play video and audio directly in crunchSMS!
• Added option to not receive MMS messages in crunchSMS
• Battery usage improvements
• Can now show full-sized MMS images on OS 4.5
• Now works on OS 7.0
• Service-type SMS messages now go into their own conversation, not into "crunchSMS Team"
• Fixed issue on OS 6.0 so you can "SMS via crunchSMS" from the Phone app, and go directly to that person's conversation
• Removed option to forward MMS message, because that's not yet supported
• Fixed issue with TextFreek on some networks

I used to use CrunchSMS, however I deleted it because I was having MMS Picture Issue. Maybe with the new MMS support I will get Crunch back and continue to use this AWESOME app!

I had an error before where any message I get even from different contacts / numbers, they all appear under one SMS message / conversation. It was very confusing and I stopped using it.

I missed the app so much as it is so much nicer than the default BlackBerry SMS app.

Thank god, this fix has rectified that issue with transcended conversation erroneously being clubbed together, and now you have the option to automatically download MMS, enable MMS,m or disable MMS

Make sure to disable your SMS / MMS via the BB firewall settings

CrunchSMS is a wonderful app. I used it on my BB for a while last year. Due to slave issues on my old 8330, I had to remove it. Well written app and does well with chats.

With this app is there a character count limit? And does it over right the native BB SMS?

No character limit.

IT will not override anything. So you will get both the regular BB Application SMS notifications and the Crunsh SMS notifications.

That is very annoying, so what you can do, which is also mentioned in their FAQ, is go to options, then type Firewall, then enable the firewall, then select SMS so that the SMS will not be delivered to your device anymore. It will only be delivered to Crunsh SMS that way and you can rely on it as your native app

Crunch SMS is like a BBM for you SMS.
