Most likely not as this is a limitation set by your phone provider. You may be able to use a third party text app, but it wont be as intuitive.

Do u know of any third party apps? I too would like to send longer texts at times....
You can take a look at crunchSMS. You can send a message as long as you want. It does break it up in to more that one text. I do not think there is any way to do just one large text. I think its one of the better ones.
If I'm gonna send a long text I usually send it MMS. I'm on Verizon and we are capped at 160 characters.
If you're tired of re-wording your text to try and make it fit. If you are tired of creating another message just to finish your thoughts. If you are tired of switching to MMS and not knowing if they'll receive it. Then get Beyond160 and experience the freedom!
Hope this helps :)
thanks for this information.
My wife and I don't seem to have any problems with going over the 160 max. Like I said above, The torch (AT&T provider) will combine the text messages into one. when making a long text, there is no indicator advising that you have gone over the 160 max. However, during the sending of the text, it will show, "sending 1 of 3" or how ever many and the receiving device will show one complete text. Even my two lesser Samsung phones do the same thing. Not sure if it is exclusive to AT&T or not though.
