Thread: BlackBerry Protect Launched Online

I know many of you have been patiently waiting for BlackBerry Protect to be released beyond a limited beta. Well, it seems that we are now blessed with this software in Americas & Europe/Middle East. The launch dates are as follows:



• March 5th – North America/Latin America
• March 19th – Europe/Middle East
• April 2nd – Asia Pacific

Definitely will. I like Lookout but i wuld give this a try. I mean its from RIM and they took so long shouldnt have any major bugs.

So far it seems to be pretty good. No complanits yet. I am using Buddy Guard right now till I got BB protect will probably change to BB Protect

Seems to be working well on both my wife's and my phones.

Not available yet to UK carriers! ( Head held in my hands!)

I have both a rogers and fido phone. It's working on fido, but not on rogers. Is anyone else having a problem with connection on rogers?

I like Buddy Gaurd. I bought full version for .99cents. I don't know if that is the price now but it works for me. NO memory hog and small app. Does anyone knows how much memory Blackberry: Protect uses?

Well, the file size is 2.4mb. Or do you mean if it creates a memory leak?

Update: It was an IE 9 issue, switched back to IE 8 and all is functioning quite nicely! I do think that we should be required to at least enter a password in order to dismiss the message to phone; a service kill button (disables dialing, data and power button functionality) would be a nice addition.

Not overly impressed right now even though the listed functionality sounds great. Have attempted to use the web side of the program several times this morning with no results; thinking it could be an AT&T thing, a IE 9 Beta conflict or net issue...will retry later but for now all the web side does is sit and spin.

I just absofreakingloutly love it!
Istalled it right away (became availeble in The Netherlands today) and tried out all the funny things.
Made it ring (scared the crap out of the misses), found it online (GPS works fine), even sent it messages and whiped it to see if it worked. A MUST HAVE for every BB owner.

i loved it as a beta tester and love it more now that it's released. i tell all my friends to get it too! funny thing about a backup app, they only have to lose their phone once to be "believers" lol

Good move by RIM to get this app out to the users. A must have in today's market to compete with the competitors.

Way better then any simmilar app out there. Accurate and simple.
Loving it! Misses Monster is installing it too. It should be standard on every BB. Why not make it part of the OS (calling RIM... Collect ofcourse....) so everybody has it. A company like RIM, with its security standards, should offer it "out of the box"

HELP... i tried to install it on by 9700 (OS 5 and OS 6), but problem: it's complaining that "BB Protect is not compatible with devices that use a Blackberry Enterprise Server"... but i'm not connected to any enterprise server! is there any flag that i have to enable/disable?

i'm not quite sure how to fix that issue, but hopefully someone else will know
