Skype wastes no time in acquiring video calling rival, Qik. The transfer of shares and funds between the shareholders of Qik and Skype was completed today and Qik is now under the ownership of Skype.
According to Skype, the two companies will:
And it notes that Qik's:"focus on providing a richer, more integrated experience that will allow people globally to share experiences in real-time video across different platforms,"
This should lead up to some even more exiting video calling integration with all the top of the line Smartphones/Tablets coming out with front facing video cameras. So what do you think of the new name "Sqik." Mmm, on the other hand, maybe not."deep engineering capabilities and strong mobile relationships will be an impressive complementary fit with Skype."
