    Skype acquires ownership of Qik

Skype wastes no time in acquiring video calling rival, Qik. The transfer of shares and funds between the shareholders of Qik and Skype was completed today and Qik is now under the ownership of Skype.

According to Skype, the two companies will:

"focus on providing a richer, more integrated experience that will allow people globally to share experiences in real-time video across different platforms,"
    And it notes that Qik's:

"deep engineering capabilities and strong mobile relationships will be an impressive complementary fit with Skype."
This should lead up to some even more exiting video calling integration with all the top of the line Smartphones/Tablets coming out with front facing video cameras. So what do you think of the new name "Sqik." Mmm, on the other hand, maybe not.

Where do you think video calling is going?

seems like a clever move. The competition is fierce now, Yahoo and bing has been merged either, even AOL has purchased Huffington post and so many other market tycoons are buying shares as much as possible to remain on top. Plus i think video calling service has nothing to do with this move as Skype alone is the best application so far for video calling. Never used Qik but i guess Skype can handle it alone.

The only real complaints I've heard about Skype lately is on the Mac.
