Quick question about Shrink-a-OS....I ran the program a week or so and it worked great, however I just realized I never deleted the "RemovedFiles" subdirectory that's sitting in my Java folder. Do I need to delete this to get the full benefit or can I leave it there for good?

You can leave it there for good, as long as the .cod files are not in the Java folder itself they won't be installed.
Excellent. Thanks! Also, I ran the program hoping to get rid of the extra pics/backgrounds that are on the Storm. I clicked on the button to delete those, however when I "view photos" on the device, I can still see the pictures. I checked the Java folder to see if that big "...backgrounds" file is in there and I don't see it...does that mean it's gone? I'm just a little confused since I don't see the file but can still see the "pretty pics" (read memory hogs) on the phone.
I've had the same problem. The file gets deleted, but the pics are still there.
For that, I recommend BBFileScout.
If you don't know how:
Download BBFileScout OTA,
Open on your phone and:
click system, click samples, highlight the folder "pictures"
then click BB button and Delete 'pictures"
This will get rid of them (you can also get rid of the other sample images here aswell)

One last thing I noticed...there's a file labeled "net_rim_font_latin_truetype..." in the Java folder. It's 1.4mb. I removed all languages when I ran your program. Is that file part of the English language files and necessary or something else?
That is actually the default font file, if you don't like the way the font looks, I would re-add that. Up to your preference :)
Not certain about this. I've loaded so many different ways and OS that I'm losing track. However, I believe that when I did a JL commander wipe prior to loading a newly shrunk OS and opted for the backgrounfd pictures to be removed, they did not show up after the new OS was loaded. I could be wrong on this. Those pictures reside in the System folder (in a subdirectory). I suspect they could also be removed using windows explorer.Quote:

Wow, BBFileScout is great! Thanks for pointing that out. Do you happen to know if I need to keep anything in the "samples" folder? Seems like a lot of pointless junk but I'm pretty clueless about what's needed and what's fluff.

Thanks. I decided not to delete the folders...just most of the files. So if there were as an example 5 jpeg files in a folder, I deleted 4, just in case it needed the root structure and one file to function. Seems to be working ok so far, however I still can't figure out why I can't get my memory above 40mb. As an example, I just did a battery pull and the only things running now (other than core apps) are Berry Weather and Memory Eye (no themes other than the one that came on the Storm new). Shows 38.3mb. I've run shrink-a-os and deleted pretty much everything I can find from reading this site and even scanning CB. I'm not sure if it's b/c I'm running a BES that the device consumes more memory or not.Quote:

are you using 2.0 or 2.1?
downloaded the new 2.1 and I have had issues. It says Uncaught Error and doesn't remove any files.
I restarted my laptop and It says "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. Could not find a part of the path C:\Java"
make sure with the new version you Browse for your Install folder instead of putting it in your Java FolderQuote:
