Blaq is a twitter client for BlackBerry phones that is available in both paid, "Blaq", and free, "BlaqLite", forms. In my opinion there is really no substantial difference between the two, therefore the version I will be testing is BlaqLite.
Blaq's user interface is very vibrant with colors that are not bright but are stunning and do appeal to the eye. Blaq's sleek interface makes gliding across tabs seem smooth, even if the BlackBerry device being used has a trackball. The tabs at the top of the screen are big and easily distinguishable. These are helpful as it allows the user to easily navigate to important twitter features. The tabs are as listed: home screen, DMs, Mentions, My Lists, New Tweet, and an option to collapse and hide this row of tabs.

With Blaq's Quick Tweet feature users can post a tweet from any screen on the device with the exception the homescreen. You simply bring up the menu and select Quick Tweet. A mini Blaq writing area appears in the middle of the screen and all you have to do is create your tweet and press enter and are then returned to the normal screen of what you were doing before. This comes in handy when you want to make a, as the name suggests, quick tweet.
The only form of media allowed to be uploaded Twitter via Blaq are images. Uploading pictures to Plixi (or Twitpic, whichever you choose) were really easy using Blaq. You can upload images directly from the app or when you are viewing a picture. Simply press the blackberry button to bring up the menu, an option to upload the picture directly to Blaq, Tweet with Blaq, is revealed. When selected, the image will then upload in the background and bring up the Blaq app automatically when finished uploading for you to confirm the tweet. You are then taken back to the picture you were viewing before the upload.
You are able to also add a link, mention or even add your location to your tweets. These features are nothing new to the twitter apps for blackberry but to have them all in one app is impressive. Other miniature twitter features are such as Search Twitter, Trends, Find User and others are also included.
Overall
Blaq does everything a normal user would essentially need along with some cool features and nice visuals to match. It combines functionality with beauty without each suffering for the other.
Rating: 8/10
