Has anyone had any personal experience with using the Tether app on the Verizon network?
I know all the details about other networks, about Verizon wanting to charge you an extra $30 a month to use their tethering option, liability, etc. I'm hoping someone here has done it personally and can tell me whether Verizon caught it and started charging?
I'm thinking of getting the app to use on the road, but I won't even touch it if Verizon is going to back charge me...

I believe the Tether app bypasses Verizon so that it just makes it look like you are using your data. Just make sure you have a Unlimited data plan if you are going to be using it a lot.
Hmm.. I would tread lightly with this app.. From what I've seen/read you got like a 50/50 chance of them catching it.. You may be lucky and go a few months but they may catch you one month. I want to try the app myself but am scared to lol.. I pay the extra 30 a month :(

I have an unlimited data plan from verizon wireless which costs 30.00 a month. I have a blackberry storm 2 and bought the tether app from app world about 6 months ago and I love it. I am not sure if verizon can do anything about it if you have an unlimited data plan. I use it at work to get on my laptop and it works great! If you have any more questions please ask them.

Unlimited data when u are using your phone for internet yes... Not unlimited when used for tethering.. Verizon can and will charge you .25/MB for overages... Believe me I've seen it..

Just to be sure I would check with Tether customer support to make sure that their app will be able to bypass being noticed from Verizon as tethering.
Well I have not been charged by verizon as of today, I use the tether app all the time. I guess I must be the exception to the rule since for six months I have had no problems. I also have a couple friends that all use the tether app with verizon with no problems. They bought their tether app from june fabrics for half the price but they say it works just the same. Good luck to all in going forward with getting or not getting the app to use.

That is what Tether is designed for, to bypass the detection of tethering through your phone's data. There are a couple programs for the Droid very much like Tether, one is called PDA net and gets the same results without Verizon detecting any type of tethering.
