The newest Twitter client for Blackberry, Blaq, just came out with a monumental update – Support for touchscreen devices. This version 1.03, is now available for the Blackberry Storm, Storm2 and the Blackberry Torch
Not so many changes on older versions i.e. curve, Bold 2 etc as this update is mostly a maintenance release with improved speed and some minor bug fixes. Makes sense as the previous version added a couple of new additions e.g. Avatar Updating, “Connection” setting in Settings screen, “Animate Timeline” has been changed to “Swipe to Switch” etc.
This update is geared towards touchscreen devices and it couldn’t have come at a better time seeing that the Blackberry Torch was launched today on Vodafone UK, you can already guess which twitter client the folks in the UK are going to be rocking today.
some of the known bugs on the touch screen, which are being worked on, include:
- When launching a mention or DM from the Messages application, the tweet view screen doesn’t always load the user’s avatar.
- Messages have not been integrated into the dropdown message preview in BlackBerry 6
- Timeline position memory is a bit quirky
As with any new software, there are bound to be minor glitches but the development team must be commended on their swift response to customer feedback and quick release of updates to fix these bugs. Also, the guys at Blaq are running a promotion. You can get Blaq at half price-$2.49 - by using the coupon code “BLAQFRIDAY” for any supported device. This offer is valid through Sunday
