Google seems to love releasing app updates faster than a Gatling gun can fire bullets. Having some of the best engineering talent in the business gives them plenty of man power to get it done. Constant tinkering and refining seem to be second nature to the search engine giant. Google Maps, is apparently no exception.
Hot on the heels of an update for Android devices, comes news that Blackberry's will be getting a bump up as well. But don't start thinking that this will just be some bug fixes, or a few tweaks to make it run smoother. Google has introduced the Places feature. If you have ever used Poynt, a gps enabled local information and business finder, then you know how useful this can be. But the mighty Google has gone one step further.
Now close your eyes. Don't look at the keyboard. Just say what you are looking for. Yes, the voice search feature has been integrated into the Places function. Search for "coffee", "hamburgers", "ATM", or get specific by searching for "Ken's Dry cleaning". This can be really handy, especially if your a constant driver, like me. I know I will be sitting up late every night hitting refresh until this update makes its appearance. Although no definite date has been set for a BlackBerry release, Google says, "The Place Page and search result updates are coming soon for BlackBerry users so keep an eye out for an update" at the following links. How excited are you about the update? What would you voice search for?
