Thread: WhoIsIt Beta - By The Jared Company

The Jared Company has a handy application in beta. The idea behind the application is very smart, I like what they've got in mind. WhoIsIt was made to instantly notify you of who is contacting you via any method. After you've got it installed, simply open the application up, assign a specific person to a specific color and you're set. The rest happens when that specific person that you have assigned contacts you. The LED blinks in the color that you have assigned that person, that way you know who it is off the bat. This is one of those applications that are so simple, it's incredible that no one has thought of it previously.

I'll state again the application is in beta so there are kinks and what not that The Jared Company has to work out with it, but it's certainly headed in the right direction! WhoIsIt requires OS 4.6 or above to operate. While on the BlackBerry Storm, you must also disable compatibility.

I am really liking this app already. I have been using it for a couple of hours now and it rocks!

i know six people with it and it does not work on any device!
Most have the 8520 and a couple have the 9700.

Doesn't BerryBuzz do the same thing?

Yep and it works :-)

BerryBuzz lets you pick colors for certain people? I think it only lets you pick for certain things... Like Email or Phone or Text, not people. I could be wrong, but I am like 90% sure it doesn't have a person feature.

This app does look pretty neat. Looking at the screenshot though...its gotta be challenging remembering what color is for what person.

That's my problem so far is remembering who I set as what Lol..

I only set like 4 poeple. Mom, Wife, Best Friend... so its not bad. I can see if you load it up how difficult it might be!

Hi, this is Steven the developer. Can you give me a little more detail as to how you tried it. Keep in mind that unfortunately this app, like all others, doesn't work with BBM. Just works for Phone, SMS and Email. The light will flash until you enter the app that was used by the contact. If you already in the messaging app when the email arrives, however, the light won't blink at all since you are already viewing your email list.

We debated on how many colors made sense. I'm like you so I figured 5 would be enough, but we went with ten for those with lots of close family/friends and a super memory.

But... You dont need to use them all. Just pick your main 4-5 and use the colors.

JaredCo, When this comes out of beta how much do you see it costing?

Most likely between $2.99 - $4.99. We are also thinking of giving it for free to gain exposure. Thoughts?

It's incredibly simple.. I'd say sell it for $1.99 and have $.99 deals often. That's cheap and it'll gain exposure!

This app doesn't work for BBM on my 9630, neither does ColorID (which is why they were both deleted).

Is anyone else seeing this?

JaredCo stated above that it would not work with BBM on any Blackberry. It has something to do with BBM, it does not allow other applications to monitor it or something like that. This app works with SMS, MMS, Email, Phone...

Even something like $2.49 with $1.49 deals would work too. Also with doing it this way, you can also work with Blackberry sites/blogs (Like the Greatest BlackberryOS hehe) and workout giveaways/contests for free. That would be great exposure too!

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me : ( I have a 9550 and I installed it (disabled compatibility) and set contacts for each color.

UPDATE:

Well that's strange. My phone crashed (don't know if it was the app or not) and when it booted back up, the app started working! Thank you!

Well, Installed it...
And guess what? people who i had configured stopped calling me hahaha.
So, i had to call my wife and ask her to call me back to see if it worked, and yes, it worked on my 9500 Storm.....
Only configured three contacts and colours or else i will also forget who is which colour.
To be honest, I also got seperate ringtones for each contact, but it's still a fun app.

Keep em coming JaredCO....I hope to be on the winning side of your big giveaway.. I would love to get one of them berryjoose's..

Installed the app.
configured it, got some folks to call me and i called them.
nothing.
battery pull, called them, they called me, nothing.
checked compatibility - nothing.
uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app, nothing.
uninstalled the app.

never mind.

(And yes I read the instructions before loading it... e.g. it doesn't work with BBM, I understand that if in the application it would not come on, and lastly, that the LED SHOULD go out once you enter or exit the app you have opened to receive the call/sms etc..).
