FREE World Cup 2010 app for BlackBerry

UPDATE v1.0.7: Previously there were some Storm users experiencing problems with compatibility. I have tested the update on my Storm device and all seems to be working fine. You just have to get used to the scrolling for the touchscreen devices as it is done by sliding your finger left/right, up/down on the screen.

Attention all Soccer fanatics!! The World Cup is one of if not the biggest sports event globally televised. Going live on June 11th in South Africa, ZonaBlackBerry.com and s42.com.ve have released a very intuitive application to keep us all up to date with the action. Available for free in both Spanish and English, this app will keep you informed via live score updates. Never miss a game with the built in calendar integration, and track complete statistics on your favorite team. The opening kickoff starts with South Africa vs Mexico. Don’t miss the action and pick this up via the OTA below.

Yes, I confirm that it doesn't work with the Storm 9550 either.

So I have some interesting news (still no touchscreen version). Sprint and Rogers have announced that their subscribers will be able to watch the World Cup on their mobile devices. If you are on Sprint, their has been a partnership with ESPN to give you access to 56 of the 64 tourny's all available on Sprint TV as long as you are on the everything data plan. Rogers will allow its Rogers on demand subscribers with Android, BlackBerry, or Iphone devices to watch all 64 matches on their devices with the Rogers on demand app. Rogers willl be charging a service costs of $5/month in addition to a one-time $10 fee to enable the access for the World Cup. Props goes out to Boy Genius Report for the info.
