AstraSync for BlackBerry has just been updated to version 4.1. AstraSync performs two-way over-the-air synchronization of email, calendar and contact data. This is a great alternative for people that are not currently on a BES but desire some of the features that an enterprise server has to offer. AstraSync is compatible with Microsoft Exchange, MailSite Fusion, Exchange Online, Google Sync and Gmail to name a few so there are many options out there for configuring the app. Some of the main features are:
- Synchronizes Email Calendar and Contacts over-the-air
- Requires simple one time configuration
- Connect via BIS, BES, WAP, TCP or WiFi
- Supports SSL secured HTTPS connections
- Uses the native BlackBerry calendar and contacts apps
- Works on all devices with OS 4.5 and later including OS 5
- Full folder support – Sync multiple folders, move & copy messages
- Full attachment support – send, receive and smart reply
- Accept and decline meeting requests
The app has a ton to offer as those are just a few of the features included. If your a very heavy e-mail who is not on a BES, this is a great solution for you. The service costs $49 per year. Given all the features the app has to offer, the price seems pretty reasonable. If your on a BES data plan, you will be paying $49.99/month just for that depending on your carrier. If you move down to a BIS plan and use AstraSync, the app will pay for itself in a few short months.
