Thread: Screen Shots of RIM's Podcast Application Leaked

Well this isn't OS 6 leaking, but still this is something to look forward to. Our Friends at BBLeaks received screen shots of the new Podcast app and from what they heard its got a couple of problems. One, there isn't a big selection of podcasts to choose from and Two, you cant pick which podcasts to listen to. However this is probably just a beta version we're seeing in the screen shots, but it still looks promising. When the new podcast app is released RIM will probably open up the application to allow any podcast to be added; like podtrapper. But I like the look of this application and I cant wait to get this on my BlackBerry. Keep up the good work RIM. More images after the break.

*UPDATE: DRIPHTER.COM POSTS EXCLUSIVE INFO

Our partners, driphter.com, have just posted up exclusive first hand info on the new podcast application. They have confirmed that this is in the beta stages right now, and they were BLOWN AWAY by the application. Their exact words:

"The second thing I notice about this application is that it has a very smooth and clean interface. This was the first thing that stuck out to me when I opened it up. The audio and video is very clear and crisp. In fact, the video is better than any other video I've ever downloaded or transferred to my phone. Very impressive!"

Looks like we know how BBLeaks came by the screen shots of the new BlackBerry Podcast app yesterday. Some BlackBerry Beta Zone members have received email letting them know that the app is available in the Beta Zone. That's pretty exciting that RIM is already rolling this out in beta to some users. Our good friends at Driphter.com seem to be one of the select few to have experience with the BlackBerry Podcast app. They have posted their first impressions and a short run down of notable features.

• Download podcasts using WiFi
• Ability to schedule downloads
• Filter explicit material
• Customized subscription notifications

Sadly it looks like content in the BlackBerry Podcast app at the moment is bear minimum. Not much to browse and download. Nor can you add your own channel. The look of the app is visually appealing, which is designed much like the new media player in BlackBerry 6. There isn't any word on just when RIM may release the new podcast app, but it is great to seem them utilize their Beta Zone like this.

It's only for some users unfortunately...

I got my copy of it today and am part of the Beta testing program. I signed up for it the day I went and registered for beta after being frustrated over missing out on the Twitter testing (I've never used Twitter at all until the official BB app came out). Anyway, I haven't had a lot of time to play with the podcasting application yet but so far it looks really good, reminds me alot of the iPhone/iPod scrolling for song/podcast selection. Anything yall want to know that I can answer feel free to ask and I'll do my best to provide one. I'm certain there have to be other members on here who got in on this beta as well.
