Tether has just announced that a new version of its popular tethering software is available. Tether has been updated to version 1.1.0.2. This is great software that allows you to use your BlackBerry as a modem. Perfect for those times when you are stuck without internet but have your berry. I wonder if the 64-Bit bug issue was resolved in Vista and Win7?

Since you have used it for quite a while I will
ask you a question if its OK with you. How fast
is teathering in general? I have never used a wireless
card for my laptop through a carrier, only wireless
home network. How fast is it just for browsing? I won't
be downloading music etc.

Its surprisingly fast. If you are in a good 3G coverage area you will get really nice speeds.

I came really close to buying this back when it was 50% off :banghead: Have a trip to Tampa the 20th and will definitely get and use the free trial.

Does anyone know if this program works with sprint even though they have blocked tethering through their sprint software?

We were in sunny Florida for two weeks.
The Resort wanted $9.95 per day for service.

I said Nay Nay. We used tether and it worked great. Not good for Hi speed downloads or such but for browsing the net , email etc GREAT.

I am waiting for another sale to by a copy for the wife's 8300.

I too have been using this with Big Red...it is great since i am on call one week every 6 weeks...I saved money on the wireless card, and it comes in handy when on vacation. I had same prob in vegas...place wanted like 10 bucks a day...my friend had a sprint card and his browser was a lot slower than mine playing mafia wars on facebook!!

There are some configuration changes for VPN content, but they were very helpful in figuring out a workaround.

Overall, I love this product and a reason for me to stick with blackberry for a little while.

I was at a friends house last night and had some work to do involving a video conferance.

I found an unsecure wifi showing a weak signal and I plugged my teather into my laptop and ran a double connection.
The blackberry had a full signal as a mast was about 100 away but it was great, not as fast as at home but it worked a treat. I was on it for 1 hour 45 minutes in total.

Its a great tool.

Mind you I keep seeing posts for this update but mine doesnt want to update?

Since the Apple iPad has bluetooth support - can we use Tether with our BB to provide Internet access to the iPad (if we have the iPad with wifi but not 3G/AT&T)?

Bluetooth doesn't come into play with that scenario in my opinion. I don't believe you could create a bridge that would sustain a fast enough data exchange.
That's just my thought on it.
