Thread: Google Voice - Not For Mumblers

So it's been a couple weeks since I've installed Google voice with my Google number. I haven't used it much, but over the past couple of days, I've given it out to a lot of auto dealers as my contact number whenever I ask for the "Super Special Internet Price."

Long story short, I'm getting tons of voice mail (because I don't pick up) from sales people, and I've concluded that Google voice is not for mumblers. After they leave a message, I get it sent as text to my phone and then through Gmail.

The voice-to-text translations can be either hilarious or very frightening. So far, a couple of dealers:
- "want to have my boy"
- are "destitute in stables"
- and are "headhunters" that "be out of the mine"

And I've also been called a lady. Anyone else having fun with Google voice? What's the general consensus?

(Can't begin to imagine what would come out the other end of drunk dialing.)

Transcriptions are pretty much useless. But I like everything else.

I agree with you on that one. They're actually amusing.
I gave up on Google Voice and moved back to Youmail Visual Voicemail. Transcriptions are not free, but almost 100% accurate.

My favorite transcription so far:

"Error date rape. Mary choral 3 Tuesday..."

Actual message:

"Aaron, Dave Raybee. Marion (location) quarter til 3 Tuesday..."

When will there be Europe support? Come oooooooooon! We use BBs in Europe too :P

I had a co-worker, Will, call me to tell me that he was having trouble with a server, but he had to go pick up his kids and could I start looking at the problem, he would be home by 6 so I could call him. No, he didn't mention any other people in the call.

Holy mother, that was hilarious. So kids, love, see you at home...what's going on with you and Will? Also, "sparkle talk" is an actual thing. I swear.
