Thread: Foursquare for BlackBerry updated to version 1.5.5

After doing some random surfing on my BlackBerry this morning I stumbled upon something. I was checking some apps to make sure I had the latest version loaded up and when I got to Foursquare I found version 1.5 on the download link. My previous version was 1.0.12. So this is a pretty significant build number jump. If you are a Foursquare user download the update and let us know what you have found that is new in this build. So far I have found the ability to add friends and add tips. Still doesn't seem to be a public touchscreen version available yet though. But this version still works fine on Storm devices.

Can someone tell me why its ok for some jerk to charge $50 to access the Foursquare Storm version that is supposed to be in "private beta?" Why is it ok for him to charge $50 for a leak?? This isn't a program that he worked on or anything. Thats almost as bad as Foursquare charging $50 for the app themselves. I mean its not like we're talking the price of a Starbucks coffee here, thats $50. Do the Foursquare people even have a clue?

The only thing different in this version is the tips button at the top. Thats a useless justification to go from 1.0.12 to 1.5. If you're going to release a major version bump, you may as well release a version that actually works on the Storm. Ugh, almost as dumb as the Socialscope people...

TBZ advertised it on twitter for all his VIP people only, the people who paid $50 to access the special part of his site.

I'm sorry, but unless you're providing a hot female to come to my house to give me a happy ending in addition to the site access, very much not worth it. He can do what he wants with Tweetissmo because thats his program, but a software leak that isn't his....come on. I kinda thought being a part of the Blackberry community was about helping each other out, not to turn a profit.

Hmm.. My current version is 1.0.4 so 1.0.5 isn't really that big of a jump so for the tips to just change is kinda understandable.

Edit: Just kidding spoke to soon just realized that the current version is 1.5.0 which is definitely a HUGE jump for only tips to change I am installing now..

I have also noticed that I can now click on my friends badges and a description pops up and tells me how they received the badge. The app is much quicker now as well.

I actually just deleted foursquare off my Storm. I have had it for about a month and haven't used it once. I guess I just don't see the purpose or the need for it

Lol! I also have almost NO friends in foursquare, so unless it becomes a little more popular i will delete it soon too !

Location based socializing is all the rage these days Just yesterday Foursquare was updated to version 1.5 that brought many fixes and feature improvements. But one of the huge drawbacks of Foursquare was their lack of support for the BlackBerry Storm. That's exactly what version 1.5.5 rectifies and more! Good to see the Storm gettin' some love. I think all apps for BB from now on should come out with touch and non-touch versions the first time around though.

It's about time

The app seems to work a lot faster and a tad smoother than it has in the past, and now Storm users can click more of the on-screen links/buttons now!

I like the updated ver and it's much faster
