Thread: Bellshare releases BerryWeather 2.1 beta

Bellshare has just updated its popular BerryWeather app for BlackBerry with a new public beta version 2.1. If not already a lucky owner, you can try it for three days. Existing users will just be asked for their old registration details.

The new version features:

• A complete rework of the core to save memory and avoid potential memory leaks.
• A new server protocol to improve update speeds and minimize CPU load.
• Backup data and settings to your memory card.
• And much more...

The complete change log can be found in the Bellshare forum, but please take note, that due to a rework of internal data storage you will loose all your old data. Make sure, that you have e.g. your custom radar links on paper somewhere before doing the upgrade.

I just checked out the picture you posted with this to see what this Beweather looks like. What caught my eye, look at those temperatures. I don't think I would want to spend 10 dollars to see that. PS I'm writing this from the beach

LOL, lucky you - but my settings are metric, which doesn't make it much better, still too cold for me either

Does this upgrade can make 4.6 OS use the homescreen wallpaper feature?

Actually dunno, but there are all new versions for all the different OS versions out, just check the trial link and select 'OS 4.6 and higher'

I have 2.0.65 does anyone know if they are going to send out updates or do we have to buy it

The update will be free for current 2.0 ownersan once it gets out of beta and make it to the stores you'll get a notification email, your activation code is still valid if you download this beta...

Really like this upgrade. This app just continues to get better!:haha:

I'm loving this beta 2.1 version, I have 49% free app mem instead of 48% (125.5MB). I will let it run for 24hrs and see what I find in my mem logs and report back. :haha:

Upgraded from 2.0.65 to 2.1.36 yesterday. Had no problems, activation code went in without any problems. I have not noticed any big differences. It is nice to be able to backup your information so that it does not have to physically entered every time. So far I'm liking it!

Just loaded the 2.1.36 beta and it looks good on Storm1. However, I notice the option to "shut down Berryweather" is no longer there. Can anyone confirm this? Is it now impossible to shut down and does it just run continually? Thanks

From my understanding it already shuts down, when you close it except for the homescreen icon - which was not the case with former versions...

Yes, I think that's correct. It looks like the User Interface shuts down completely on its own to save memory. So far, I think this looks like a real improvement over previous builds. Thanks

Just updated... Loving the previous version, hoping to love it even more =)

I did update to 2.1 the other day. This version took care of the memory leak that my phone had (be it ever so slight) and about doubled my battery life.
A big thumbs up to the guys over to Bellshare.
