Thread: Anyone else getting certificate/connection issue?

I seem to be getting an error on my BlackBerry every now and then about a certificate not being correct (don't remember exactly what it says. Basically I end up with the options of closing the connection, continuing, and trusting the connection. The only app that I have running is BerryWeather so I'm thinking it's something with that.

Is anyone else getting these errors?

I have not heard that error before.
Now a couple of days ago I did have an issue with BerryWeather. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app.
I kept getting failed updates.

I'm running Berry Weather and have never gotten that screen so it might not be that particular app causing the issue.
This link should take you over to Cberry where this issue has been discussed. Perhaps you will find some useful info. It appears that this can be related to google voice and perhaps other apps. Hope it helps...

PS - please read through that link completely. Some have mentioned that your phone may self-wipe if you attempt multiple key store password entries while attempting to accept the certificate....Could this be a spyware/virus???? Rim has, in the past, reported weaknesses in it's certificate programs which can allow back door entry into your BB!!!

I get it from google voice. I think they need to update their woo and certs.

THis fixed it for me.. Options>security options>advanced security>certificates> find the one that says www.google.com and something about thawte SGC.. highlight it>BBKEY>TRUST> enter your keystore password>IF you have never set one up create one and if it says it cant trust repeat the process this time you should not have to create a password just use the one you made. Let me know

Yeah, I had to do this a few weeks ago. The culprit is Google Voice. But yeah, what jnepsa says works!!

Thanks guys. It hasn't happened since I've made this post (knock on wood). So unless it happens again, I'm not gonna mess with anything.

If you want to know if it will happen again just go options>security options>advanced security>certificates and see if there are any with a red 'x' next to them

There's a red x for Anny Way Wap Root, GTE CyberTrust Root, VeriSign/RSA Secure Server Root, and Vodafone WTLS CA. No clue what importance any of those have if any.

hmm never heard.. did you download and try the vodafone twitter app?

Don't think so. Could be from an OS I installed that was from Vodafone and one point maybe.

I have them all here as well with a red x ...and I am on Vodafone....

I've got a bunch of DOD certs that have red 'x' on them.

I believe DOD= Department of Defense. So that may be for the best.. I think it means you just never registered with that server.

I have the same issue but never got any pop ups for it. My BB has been running like a champion though. :hail:
