Thread: UberTwitter vs TweetGenius

I currently use ubertwitter....but i was wondering what are the differences ....so please fellow berriers..enlighten me...

Sorry I dont have it but from what I have heard stick with UT.. its free.. I have heard and been told that TG is a rip off

The newest version of UT completely wipes TG off the map. TG is better with it's latest update, but it's not in the same league as UT. Nate wrote a good article about the new UT:

Take a look at that for some of the features in the beta. I removed TG from my S2 after this update.

I have both paid versions and have gone back and forth between the 2 several times. As of right now, übertwitter has many more features than tweet genius. the main thing tweet genius has on übertwitter is speed. tweet g seems to load everything much faster. Keep in mind the tweeg g file is about 200kb larger than ÜT from what I remember as well. So basically if you want a speedy twit app without the bells and whistles, go with tweet genius. Otherwise and in most peoples cases, stick with ÜT. I might use tweet g for a day or 2 every few months, but I always end up back on ÜT.

TG is a nice app and the UI looks stunning compared to UT. I was using TG up until the last UT beta was released and then I switched over to UT full time. TG just can't compete with the features of UT right now. I'm sure there will be an update soon and I will end up going back to TG. You just can't find a better looking Twitter app IMO.

If you are on the Verizon network, go into UT options and switch your connection to 'Direct TCP'. It will be much faster I promise. Depending on how many tweets you have each app loading, it will be just as fast as TG (if not faster).

For whatever reason the 'Auto' network only uses BIS-B and one of the other slower choices.

I have to agree with TOMMY I changed that setting and UT is blazing now

I respectfully disagree. I've always had UT and TG set on direct tcp from day one and comparing apples to apples TG is definitely much faster since they partnered w/ Beejive. At least on ATT. Is it possible different apps load faster or slower depending on the network (or CMDA vs GSM)? That's something I don't know anything about.

AT&T? Well, you need 3G for Direct TCP to work lol j/k

Well, do both retrieve the same # of tweets? You can choose 200 or 50 and that would make a big difference too. UT only takes a second to load for me so any faster than that doesn't even make a difference IMO.

Yep, fully agree here, UT is really fast for me, therefore, am staying with it...at least for today...

I'm still having no issues with UT as well. It's great so far!

Obviously we have the best 3g. We have the guy from Old School on our commercial. And yea I've always retrieved the same # of tweets on both. Don't get me wrong here guys, I'm UT all the way, 300 days out of the year. Its feature rich and its not slow. Its just that I have personally found TG to be lightning fast. And have switched from time to time.
