XTopMobile to be released soon

IMS, a member of the BlackBerry Alliance Program, is said to release a new productivity app early this year. The app is designed to connect your berry with your laptop via Bluetooth, neither Wi-Fi nor USB cable required. XtopMobile uses the internet connectivity of the Blackberry and extends it to your laptop/PC screen without tethering.

Features

• Automatically send your BB emails to the laptop
• Synchronize calendar, to-dos, contacts etc.
• Browse the internet from the laptop via the berry
• Remotely answer the phone from the laptop while putting the berry into speaker mode
• And much more

Sounds interesting and we will keep you informed on their progress.

So with my storm, if I want to use it to connect to my internet, Verizon says I have to pay monthly fee. Does this mean this will no longer apply??:confused:

I'm sorry, but I would understand it vice versa. With this app you could use your (paid) data plan of the berry on your PC/laptop and do no longer need a Wi-Fi spot or mobile stick for the laptop

Will the app be free? Can i transfer files through the browser? your app would worthless if we still have to pay VZW extra to use my BB data plan on my MAC.

Dunno, if the app is for free (actually wouldn't expect it to be free) - but why would it be worthless - if you have a full data plan for your berry, it would be great, if you could even use it for your PC/laptop without generating additional costs?!

i would even PAY for it, if it worked without setting the APN (which means, using the BIS data, since setting the APN means using my carrier's internet, which costs fortunes), unlike all the other tether solutions

Sorry, I worded that wrong. Right now I have a data plan. Verizon says if I want my laptop to connect via my blackberry (tethering via usb) than I have to pay another fee on top of the data plan. So this new app would eliminate the extra tethering plan, right? :confused:

I wouldn't think it would be free, but beats a monthly plan that verizon was trying to stick to me @ another $30+ a month.

Just went to xtopmobile.com and found answers but not the cost...can't wait!!!

You are correct but you can achieve the same thing with tetherberry as well here is a link to our store to check it out.. the fee is a one time fee not monthly

do you know of any current tethering solution that works without using the carrier APN ?
