Thread: The Bible on your Blackberry

It's Christmas time, therefore, it does not come as a surprise, that the popular Bible app by LifeChurch.tv (powered by YouVersion) has been updated. With YouVersion mobile the Bible is with you when you need it. The new release, suited for Storm 1 and 2 as well, amongst others offers a reading plan and social features such as email and twitter capability.

The app with more than 3 million users so far can either be downloaded via App World or following this link in your BB browser:

This is one of the best Bible apps for blackberry. I use it all the time you can even tweet verses from within app which is cool.

I have used this for a while as well. Very simple and easy to use. And FREE!

One question, is the installed FlurryAgent anything one would better get rid of? It appears in the cod list after installing this app...

Coming from a WinMo background, you know, the days before drinking the coolaide and getting addicted to the berrycrack :aargh4:, I used the Laridian Bibles and invested a lot of money in several bibles. I wrote to Laridian to ask about a native Blackberry bible and was informed about the Noah viewer and have now bought the Noah viewer and now all of my purchased bibles from Laridian work on my Blackberry.

The good news is, once you've purchased a bible from Laridian, you don't have to purchase it again in the future if you change platforms. For me this has been a boon as I've gone from Palm to WinMo to Blackberry and there were a few others there in the middle. I really like my Storm2 and think it's the best fit for me by far.

Just wanted to throw this out just in case someone was like me and invested in the Laridian bibles and have them laying around. Now you know you can use them on the Blackberry and they perform real well. I really like that I can store the bibles on the media card and don't have to take up the main memory, although with the Storm2 that's not much of an issue.

Downloaded it last night, very awesome, love that you can tweet verses or send them via email. Thanks!! LOVE IT!!

Anyone getting errors with this app? Right now its working fine. But at Church Sunday it kept saying it couldn't connect to the server. Had 3G and the browser worked fine. Kinda ironic that it wouldn't work at my church but will everywhere else.

Maybe it wants you to be in church that day ...no idea, will check it next Sunday!

We have tried to use the Live part of it on sunday for our service. It is useless at that time. I believe that they need to invest in more servers. We also use in for our bible study groups on other days and it works great for that..

I love the study guides and reference, as we as reading others input on the same areas I am reading.

Just to really make sure, so you already have it? Maybe I got you wrong, but if you have difficulties in DL, you have to open the link from within your BlackBerry's browser (sorry, if I misunderstood your post)

I just wish I could find another app like UT or Socialscope, or Seesmic, that has the one thing from OpenBeak that I can't do without. The ability to simply open the app, and immediately type a new message and send it. Every other stinking Twitter app you have to log in first or you can't set the update status page to be the first thing you see when opening the app. When I'm out and about, I wan to be able to just open the app, type my tweet and send it. I don't want to have to open an app, then navigate to the update page.

I think, that's the approach "Yatca" is after, but so far, I was not getting it to run properly here on OS 5

...seems to be a pattern here, not working (connecting) for me either today.

this app rocks... only if it offer bible to be downloaded into the device...
