    Glide OS launches BlackBerry app

Getting bored of all the ads? We have a potential solution for you: Glide OS, one of PC World's 100 Best of 2009.

Glide OS launched a free BlackBerry app for its Glide Engage blogging service.

Glide OS is an ad-free cloud computing solution escaping from the daily barrage of online floating, pop up, banner and streaming ads and email spam.

Glide in the media: "The whole package is wonderfully elegant." - PC Magazine

Glide OS is a free suite of rights-based productivity and collaboration applications with 20GBs of storage. Setup and administer up to six family member accounts including child accounts from your Glide settings panel. The Glide OS provides automatic file and application compatibility across devices and operating systems. With Glide OS you also get the Glide Sync App which helps you to synchronize your home and work files.

    Features

    • Like a mashup of Twitter and Google Wave, Engage lets users make posts as long as 1,400 characters
    • Allowing file attachments and sharing
    • Synchronizing with Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter
    • Archiving completed discussions as Glide Write, PDF, Word, or RTF files.

"The BlackBerry platform has long been the choice of business professionals around the world, and today we are excited to launch the native version of Glide Engage for BlackBerry users providing them with a powerful business and social networking application and an integrated productivity and collaboration application suite that greatly expands the capabilities of their BlackBerry phones," said TransMedia Chairman & CEO, Donald Leka. "With integrated rights based file sharing, version control, and tracking capabilities, Glide Engage raises the bar for mobile business collaboration applications."

Glide OS is completely ad free (but most likely has some other things to consider!); ads in this context are the many apps and social communication tools, such as many IMs that use ads a lot...

Well, I've tried a lot of free apps with great functionality, the only thing that always bothered me, was, that some of them - even on such small devices as our berries - displayed banner ads.

Glide will be free of any ads. I guess, it is not that important on a berry, it is more a statement of something new, that - so far - will only want to rule the world, but while attempting this not needing any commercial ads

Think of it kind of like Google/Chrome OS. Only this is an app for BlackBerry that helps you connect to all your stuff stored with Glide.

I was going to note that the OTA download works with more than just the Storm, Tour, and Bold...
e.g. I have an 8900 and it works for me
