When changing a profile, it would be helpful if you could keep the previous profile's settings, i.e. Icon placement, hidden/unhidden, Folders. Also it would. Be helpful if you could "lock icon" to the place you are favouring on the screen

well then my suggestion to you would be find the perfect theme for you and just change your wallpaper when you feel you need to look at something new
