Fossil Developing Smartphone Watch?

Remember the inPulse for BlackBerry? Well make room for another smartphone watch as Fossil is developing their own watch that can pull information from a smartphone. The goal is to make a smartphone watch that is as close to traditional watches as possible while delivering functionality. According to Fossil, the challenge will be displaying what consumers find relevant on a small display.

Fossil has already made prototypes of the watch that can work with BlackBerry and Android handsets via Bluetooth. The company estimates the watch could retail at around $200.

We've all seen the inPulse, Sony recently launched LiveView for Android devices, and now Fossil is getting in on the action. Will you be picking one of these up?

I like where they are going with this, but I don't think smartphone watches will be a thing until they make them Dick Tracy like, being able to use it as a phone.

LOL!! I agree completely Joe.. One thing I thought that was cool reading up on this is that when you receive a call the name/number displays on the watch for you. Saves you time from pulling out your phone to realize it's someone you DON'T wanna talk too lol..

What would be another cool feature is to make the watch so that it can be used as a walkie talkie device. Having it be a phone wouldn't be that practical anyway, unless it could pick up the sound of your voice good enough and cancel out the background noise. I don't think people would want to hold their wrist up to their mouth for long periods of time. lol

could potentially connect via bluetooth headset to minimize background noise and inconvenience of talking to a watch haha
