    Facebook with the 8830 WE

I have the 8830 WE and have always ran the facebook app with few problems, that is until the 1.5 and 1.6 updates. Ever since then, my phone continually locks up and enters the forever hourglass mode. Battery pull is the only solution. It seems to me that facebook is running the phone out of memory, but of course with the OS for the 8830 I can't tell how much or little memory I have left. I finally had to delete facebook.

Anyone else have this problem? I am running 4.5.135 and don't run any other 3rd party app except for google maps.

You can go to Options > Status and look at how much File Free you have... Also have you removed all unnecessary applications?

A little over 6 meg without the facebook app installed.

I unfortunately didn't check it when I had it installed. I may put it back on later and see where I'm at with it installed. Otherwise, I had alreadfy deleted everything else I didn't need.

If your free memory is that low without Facebook, then the issue isn't only Facebook. It sounds like too many apps are installed. Normally anything less than about 12,000,000 bytes (12mb), you will start experience issue due to low memory.

Also don't forget themes. If you have excessive themes on your device it can be problematic.

I have nothing but default themes and I've deleted all third party apps except for Google Maps and I'm up to just over 11meg. I've even deleted all of Sprint's apps they put on there, like Sprint Navigation. Cleared my cache... don't know what else to do.

Thank you, Sunkast. I will give that a try tomorrow.

I would like to keep this phone working well despite the fact that I've ordered the tour. My wife will probably use this 8830 for a while after I return the Palm Pre mistake.
