Thread: problem with bluetooth on 8800

Hi,
I have an 8800, got problems with incoming phonecalls so updated the firmware but now I'v got another problem:
bluetooth dosen't work, will not activate!
It's now 2 days I'v been searching on internet and not yet found a solution can you help me?

The new firmware is 4.5.0.174 (italian tim), the dose not seem to be a version 5 for this device so what can I do?

Hello angelfirex. What kind of Bluetooth are we talking about (model)?. Are you able to put the BT into pairing mode and does your BB recognize it?

No I mean the bluetooth on the phone....will not turn on, hangs and and that'all

Sorry for any confusion. First off let me start off by saying Welcome to . From what it sounds like to me either their is a known issue with BT with that particular OS you have installed, or something may have happened during the install process and now the file is corrupted. My suggestion is this, I would recommend backing up and then wiping your device. Then I would suggest intalling the most recent OS for the 8800 which you can find here 4.5.0.181 released for 8800, 8820, and 8110 by COSMOTE

Then I would suggest using a program like RIMGeeks.com • View topic - [Beta][8/18/09] BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife v1.5 to wipe your device. If you have any questions about any of this, one of us will be here to give you hand.

yes it's a problem of the 4.5 firmware...also this firmware uses more battery (only lasts one day).
I'v already wiped the phone and reinstalled but nothing changed.
At the momen I'v downgraded to the last 4.2 and I'm hoping that I dont get the problem with incoming calls.

Any idea if and when the will be a version 5 for this device?

I wouldn't say its a problem with 4.5 in general however it could just be .174 that is the issue. When you say you wiped and re installed did you perform a complete wiping using a program like BBSAK or JL commander? Also did you try installing .181 like I suggested? I would hate to see you have to revert to 4.2 in order for you to use your BT. That should not be the case. To answer your question about OS 5.0 for the 8800. I would have to say at this point in time if it hasn't been released it probably will never be released for this device.

The issues with the blue tooth may be simple. Have the 2 of you by any chance, just recently purchased your bluetooth devices?
