Lightbulb I want BlackBerry 10 OS on desktop...

Is there a chance that BlackBerry would create an operating system for desktop to compete with Windows, OSX, and Linux distros?

With Windows 10 being a botnet, Apple having a horrible ethical record, and Linux being so fragmented, BlackBerry should come out of nowhere with an operating system built to be secure and focused on productivity and multitasking in the same spirit as the phone systems. I would absolutely pay for this as long as it is not ridiculously expensive...

What does everyone else think about this?

Not going to happen now that BlackBerry has gone to Android for their go to operating system.

Wouldn't that be all the more reason to see BB10 made open source?

They could release it for free and charge a small percentage of any software to come out of their services and give the Amazon app market a huge boost while bringing the same best practices and security culture with them. Imagine splitting two workspaces between work and play. Imagine it comes free with a DRM-free copy with any BlackBerry phone you purchase. Imagine it includes a hub to securely control and manage all connected devices securely for the IoT concept... The possibilities...

Open Source would be a huge issue, especially considering how many governments are using BB OS10.

I do think the right thing to do would be to continue offering free OS10 devices to developers... however have quality apps released.

This would never happen since they are not allowing such things on desktop
