Skype for BB10

As per this article ( Skype Gets Closer To Mobile Carriers, Inks Deal With Mach For Direct Billing For Skype Credits | TechCrunch ) skype is going carrier billing. Will this mean Skype will come to BB10 irrespective of MSFT's consent? coz carriers would like to have presence on as many platforms as possible to maximise revenue.
secondly, Skype is a cost center for MSFT. A cost center must worry about its own profitability. so will Skype act in its own interest or be a scapegoat for MSFT's larger mobile strategy (WP8)? ignoring 80 Million subscriber isnt exactly acting in its own interest.

Just sharing my thoughts and would love to hear other comments.

I'm sure that Verizon has been a big part of why Skype has not hit other BlackBerrys in recent years. Remember, Skype is on BlackBerry, just for Verizon subscribers.

I do think that BlackBerry 10 will be robust enough to break the Verizon monopoly on Skype.

oh..i didnt know skype is available for BlackBerry on verizon. interesting. But if other carriers start billing for skype wouldnt they be interested in putting skype on as many platforms as possible? and i wonder what will happen in countries like india. where handsets are not subsidised by carriers. i guess time will tell.
but agian, personally, i care less for skype and mroe for BBM video chat. :)

There Skype offered by Verizon is for calls only. Hopefully, we will have a full video Skype app for BB10. I have personally never used Skype, but I know that it's important for a lot of people. BBM video chat would be pretty awesome! Have a great day!

i guess its coz lack of front facing camera on current BB models.

Skype would awesome on a BB's, wonder if it'll be able to handle the bandwidth.

I believe that the BB10 will be able to handle anything that can be thrown at it! :)

And since they are integrating MSN messenger into Skype, I really do hope Skype is available on BB10 coz I use MSN messenger a lot.

Not that I want to see the faces of people I communicate with (except my Lady), I can see where SKYPE or any other video chat would be important to a lot of consumers and also assist in sales. I do think it would be a GOOD idea for BB10 to be released with some kind of video chat. As Of right now my Lady and I are happy with the PlayBook video chat, it works for us :)

We can use Videochat on BB10, but in order to contact with friends (have no BB device), i think Skype is a powerful app (Y)

Great news and now for the Playbook and I'm a happier owner. This along with Cisco's WebEx coming to BB10 must transition to the Playbook also for business activities.
