I'm looking to create a new native cascades bb10 app - have you got any ideas?

I am looking to create a new BlackBerry 10 native cascades application; but before I get started prototyping and designing mock-ups, with my team, I want to know what apps you are interested in and want to see more of in BlackBerry World.

Have you got an idea for an app that you would like to see in BlackBerry World or an improvement that we could make of an app that is already on BlackBerry World? I would be grateful if you could reply to this thread with apps that you would like to see on BlackBerry World!

Great question! Social media apps are always nice. Maybe try and come up with something in that regard. Like a snapchat. Or even take BBM Channels' idea and make a hybrid Twitter/BBM Channel like interface.

I'd like to see an app that can manage my wifi. Turn it off when there's no wifi within range that I can connect to and on when there is, i.e. my house.

Thanks for your suggestions Joe - I looked into developing a BB10 native Snapchat application a few months back but there isn't even a developer API so I wouldn't know of a way to use Snapchat's services or accounts. I did think of having a BBM-Style Snapchat app where you can take a picture and add a caption over the top but I don't think Cascades supports destroying images after they have been on a device for a set period of time so that wouldn't work as an app either really.

Would you be able to elaborate further into your second suggestion about taking the BBM Channels hybrid user interface and creating something? As I know how to create the interface for BBM Channels, in Cascades!

Sounds like a good idea. Would you want the app to notify you when there's a wifi network that you could connect to or would you want the app to disable and enable wifi when you are within range of a wifi network?

What about a native BBOS app with forums integration? Posting, responding, etc.....?

    Hi,
I would like to see an easy to use video compressor. The things you create with Storymaker are cool but far too large to share via email.
There is nothing to reduce resolution and bit rate if I like to have it smaller at lower quality.

That is exactly what we have been discussing this evening! Working on some prototypes now - what would you want to see in a native BBOS application?

Sounds like a good idea, I don't think Cascades currently supports doing any video compression, but I will look into it as it's an interesting idea and I agree that the file sizes for things created with Storymaker are very large - so I will look into seeing if it's possible to create a video compressor for BlackBerry!

    Hi,
I read somewhere that someone already ported ffmpeg. It should work. Just needs a UI.
