Facebook Ap Problem

I have been successfully using Facebook for Blackberry on my 8800 for months. I got an alert on Thurs telling me there was an upgrade available (v1.6)so I installed it.
Since then, I have tried to reinstall the app multiple times but my FB icon has disappeared and I do not see the app hidden anywhere. After installation, I do not see the message that says Installation was successful. I see a message that says Device must be rebooted which I do - but the FB icon and ap still does not appear.
I have installed this numerous times using the browser from Facebook, from blackberry and from Blackberry Ap World. When I do this, it tells me I already have the FB version (and I overide the installation) but I still do not see it.
I registered with the network and have the IPPP for BIBS under service books.
I am not too technical so help in simple steps will be most appreciated.

First of all try deleting and reinstalling the app rather than installing over the top of your old version. Options > advanced > applications > select facebook > menu key > delete. Allow your device to reboot afterwards. Then do a clean install from App World. Post your results and we can go from there.

Thanks. I did what you suggested. Then I went to Facebook at Ap World and tried to reinstall from there - but the download button was missing (only Reviews, Recommend and Contact Support were there). So I uninstalled and reinstalled Ap World -and the same thing happened when I clicked on Facebook (maybe bc I tried to download from there earlier??).
So I installed Facebook from the web browser. The message appeared that the installation was successful and Facebook is showing up in the Applicaitons list but I still don't see the FB shortcut and ap. I rebooted and same thing. Suggestions on what to do next? Thanks

Sorry coming into this a little late :) have you checked to make sure the app icon is not hidden in any folder. Or possibly in a folder that you have hidden and forgot about.

What OS are you on?
Have you checked if is not hidden?

Go to the application menu and hit menu > show all and double check that the icon is not hidden. Also check all of your folders, it's amazing where those icons can wind up. Also go to options > advanced > applications and see if the app is listed there. Another option would be to connect to DM and use the application loader making sure the facebook application box is checked during the initial setup. Post your results...

If you can't find it go to Options, advanced options, applications highlight facebook, click the menu Key, select edit default permission and set everything to allow, save and restart the device.

I am using Blackberry Internet Service..an 8800 with AT& T service. Does that answer the question? I am not too tech savvy....thanks

To check OS version to to options > about > 3rd line

Also are you using the default theme for your device?

I edited default permissions and checked allow for all, saved and rebooted. Still no Facebook Ap showing.

You will prolly have to upgrade your OS before the new version of facebook will work. Not sure of it but I suspect that's the problem.

The reason why is not showing is because the new facebook application is not compatible with your OS, you might want to upgrade it, to get the best of your device
