Thread: Is it just me or has something changed

Is it just me or has anyone else almost lost complete interest in their storm1. So I went to play with the storm2 and realized while at the store that I am just not as interested in my phone right now.

I just want a new device, I feel let down by RIM and I just now with the .323 update started to really like my phone again but I think its just too late. I tried the Tour, Bold, and I have a Curve 8330. I Think, I just want to play with something new and the Storm 2 just didn't seem new and thus my storm 1 doesn't seem interesting.

One reason I bought the Storm2...something NEW and...a little bit different.

Same reason I updated OS's on S1 :crazy:

When you have to have the newest (OS)...and the S2 is just like the newest OS leak...:aargh4::aargh4::aargh4:..ya gotta have it !!!

No more friend you are not alone. Many other BB users will follow suit. I wrote a little mini review on the Droid as I had a chance to play with it this morning. It was nice for sure, but there were a few things that killed for me. So for now, for my purposed I will be staying BB on the 9550

I hate hate myself for getting tired of things but I do love the ability to tinker with my S1 but is the 9550 truely much of an upgrade, and a new experience. I am afriad that I will be unable to live without BBM, but I just have to try the device myself.

What I didn't like about the android I love with S2. What I really don't care that much about the S2 does ok at while the Android does well. The typing on the S2 is greatly improved while I found the Droid typing experience to be not to me liking. I should preface this by saying that I have large hands and the android has a very small keyboard. I really couldn't type one sentence without making a lot of errors. The Droid is an awful phone something that really is surprising considering it is on vzw. But in my 30 minute test run with the phone it failed. The Droid also doesn't do email very good, something that I require big time. It pushes gmail which I never use and pulls everything else. It it supposed to pull every 5 minutes but I had to force pull it which I found unacceptable.

Jlevy, this is pretty much what I expected. The droid is a nice little flashy device. But does it really do what a true BlackBerry user would need it to do? I seriously doubt it. Does it have a kickass OS, yes. But I use my BB for about 75% email. There is no way that the Droid will be able to match the BlackBerry email experience. Just no way. I can live without a fancy OS. I have all the apps I need on my BlackBerry. And getting an email seconds after the person on the other end hits send is a big factor.

I will most likely stick with RIM and wait for that touch/QWERTY combo device.

You guys are right about the email experience on the BB. I don't know how that will play out, its just that I was underwhelmed by the S2, but I think I may let it grow on me.

I posted it in another thread but I agree. S2 is not new enough. Would I like one, sure. Would I use an upgrade or go through the hassle of adding/ dropping a line. Still debating. I'm seriously considering picking up the 8530 when it comes out on VZW. That way when I feel like using a physical keyboard I've got it and when I want touch I've got it. I think the trackpad will be "new enough" to pick up and I always liked my trusty 8330.

WoW, where was this thread when i was debating (still am) between the droid and the S2. P3, ur first post is exactly how I felt when I played w/ the S2 two days ago. I loved how the screen feels when typing, but other than that I felt like everything else was just the same as S2. When I heard about the wifi problem on BIS, i was sure I would switch out of BB and possibly go with the droid. I've had WinMO previously, S1 is my first BB and I love how "staying in touch" is so possible with BB via the quickness of the e-mails and BBM. I think BB might b the OS for me, I say might b 'cause I feel RIM can still make it better.

Starting with apps, I feel like BB needs more app developers and apps. Sure there's a good number of apps out there, and I'm not talking about for youtube or media related, i'm talking about traveling, info search, like train schedules, I go to NYC quiet often and wish there was an app for the train schedule (with a good UI) instead of using the web in mobile view to get the info. I feel like there's little things RIM is missing that's making BB experience even better (maybe i'm the only one who feels this way)

I've always been a touchscreen user, so for me the only option is Storm or Droid. But i'm tired of typing on S1, i find myself not wanting to reply to e-mails or txts or BBM because of how the screen feels. When i was using the S2, I felt like I would have no problem with replying, but still something is making me hold back from upgrading and i think that something is the fact that S2 is no different than S1 (other than typing and wifi) and I too suffer from "wanting a change". I've had the S1 for a yr, i've played with it, am bored with it, want something new to keep my interest going........

O btw, I love the look of the S1/S2. It just looks smooth and finished. I haven't seen another phone that I felt looks so complete (cosmetic wise) like the Storm

PS, jlevy, where can I find your review of the Droid. I've been trying to find info from a BB user on what they thing about the Droid.

There are reviews all over the internet for the Droid. Google Motorola Droid reviews and a bunch should pop up.

pcmag.com has one and so does cnet.com

yea i've read most of the reviews and videos...but idk wat it is, just can't seem to grasp if I would like the droid UI or not lol. Usually I read a few reviews and I can make up my mind...but with this, I'm still debating. I think for me the only way to know is to play around with it once it comes out. I def won't get the Motorola, don't like the way it looks (the outside). I would wait to see wat others will have, like HTC and even Dells phone looked nice, but a bit too big lol.

i will be getting the droid without even touching it first. i'm sold enough by the reviews and vids and i am just bored with the storm and BB for now.

As much as I hate to say it - I'm with you Cat. I was eagerly awaiting the S2, hoping for something new to blow me away, but after foolin with it for a bit - I wasn't impressed much - didn't see a huge difference from what I have already,besides memory. I've been watching the Android scene closely,and now I am definitely ready to switch teams.
Don't get me wrong,I love my BB,always have,but it's just time for a change.
I WILL have to play with for a bit first,just to make sure!

I will be taking the Droid for a test drive. If i dont like it will go with the storm 2. I just need something different and i want a better web experience then BB can offer. I am a bit worried on how it handles email, contacts, tasks, and memos as those are all the things that BB does very well. Like i said test drive and if i dont like it, it will only cost me $35 to switch over to S2.

actually it will only cost you 15 bucks...the storm2 is 20 bucks cheaper
