my store said the same...they open early for the storm too
it'll be 6am for me
Looking forward to reading all the findings and opinions next Friday :)
Yep i'm seeing that too. Many will go but could go back. Interesting about opening early, but in store it's gonna be $300 with a $100 gift card back. Online and at BB it will be $200 no rebate or gift card. I'll be pre-ordering from BB tonight. Then picking up Friday morning :D. I hav a Storm 1 with 5.0 on it for sale. Easy terms $100 and its anyone's
most bb users shouldnt be users. they should have bought an itoy.
I am sure that goes from some users out there. But let me give you my take on it...
I have been a BlackBerry user for years and have had almost everyone that VZW has offered (S2 is the only one I haven't). When I was working from the road the push email was a must. Now that I am not push email isn't that big of a deal. But my other reason for trying the Android OS is I am bored of the BB, to me nothing changes. My Tour to me was the same as my 8330,8830 heck even my 8130! Just need a change something a little different to play with and get to know.
Here's my take on it. Android devices may have the capability to be used as a toy; however, being an open platform; they also have the capability to do almost anything. This includes serious business uses. I believe alot of BB users are leaving for Android because compared to an open-source Linux-based OS; the BB OS is very limited in what you can do, as you have to remain within a very specific set of programming APIs. And in the year 2009, Exchange Activesync should at least be an option......
So true and in 4 weeks alone the Droid store has gone from 5,000 to 10,000 apps. Like many stated in this thread, people will leave just because they are tired of the same ole thing. When you think about it the largest technological innovation over the last 12 months from RIM was the trackpad.
I had breakfast today with a friend and what did he pull out of his pocket, the Droid. He works for Motorola and was involved in the harwdware design of the product. In 30 minutes of playing with it here are my thoughts.
Pros:
Screen is simply stunning
Web is fantastic. On the same level as the iPhone
No two Droids will be alike as you can customize the crap out of it
The OS is raging fast
The new google maps navigation feature is amazing. A few minor bugs but I think Google just put Garmin and Telenav out of business
Cons:
Email is a mixed bag. Gmail acounts get pushed which is good. All other accounts get pulled every 5 minutes. Not so much I found myself having to force pull email in order to get it. So if you rely heavily on email you might be annoyed with this
Phone quality: Not good. This was disappointing. Calls had static and my wife had difficulty at times hearing me well. At one point she said can you call me from a different phone it's really hard to hear you. And yes I had full bars on vzw network.
Keyboard: This will be personal preference but I did not like either one. Let me preface by saying I have large hands and one of the reasons I did not like the Tour. The touchscreen keyboard while responsive is very small. The physical keyboard is also disappointing IMO. It's almost completely flat making typing a pain in the ass. I could not type one sentence accurately.
While I was thinking about purchasing the device the phone quality and the keyboard killed it for me. For those with small hands you might not mind the small keyboard. But I would give this baby a test drive before diving in to make sure this is the right phone for you.
Wow thanks J :fing02: good mini review for sure. I sure hope that call quality was a fluke? What is the point of paying for VZW and not having the quality :pat:
I don't know why but I really hope this phone flops. I am just not a Motorola fan. The Moto Q left a bad taste in my mouth.
I, too, am not a fan of Motorola at all. :( The first razr was a good lesson once and for all. :D
