Thread: Droid Release date???

Am I reading this timer correctly? October 28th is the relase date of the Droid

Sorry if this was covered but I just found this site and worked out the counter (had nothing better to do) :crazy: and according to my Klingon the countdown should zero out on October 28th at midnight.
anyone got info on this?

yes i've heard of the october 28...but i need a youtube video to go with this phone...whats all this hype...and i hate the slide out keyboard.

Yeah I do to, hate the slide out keyboard. I don't care how nice the phone is that's a deal breaker for me.

I'm with you on the slide keyboard, not a big fan but with all the hype going around that the droid is the "iPhone killer" I'm curious to see if it indeed lives up to it, and if it really be that much better than the storm 2.
Not that I have seen a storm 2 either but just wondering

Personally I'm a little miffed that there is this much hype and campaigning for the droid, but nothing significant on the S2 from Verizon

I think part of it is the partership between Motorola and VZW.

I don't think it's as much of a partnership with Verizon and Motorola as it is with Verizon/Google. They will be coming out with an HTC phone as well.

Maybe RIM isn't too concerned with hyping S2 and they're gonna put all there focus into the next year, 2011 storm 3 with 5.1 (Or the equivalent, OS specifically for touch screen). Seems like a long time but you never know, they may have decided that right now there's no hope with the current type of OS to compete with the multi-media type phones surfacing and instead of disappointing people with ill-faded attempts they'll just perfect what they got now and allow their R & D time to come up with something that can compete.

That's my opinion, at least what I would do if i were them.

I agree. I don't give much props to a VZW Rep, but I was kicking it with a guy from VZW one night and he was telling me that the new HTC will be a hot new phone.

the htc imagio software looks cool...but everyone i've known to have an htc phone they just traded in for a blackberry in the end. software issue...keyboard isssues...not ready to jump on the htc boat or android right now.

It really depends on which htc phone. They make really great phones now. The problem with the Imagio is that the hardware is great, but the software is still running windows mobile which has barely been changed over the years, and is still laggy.

The HTC phones with Android on it are much better.

DroidDoes.com was counting down to October 30th, 12:00 AM, but got changed as of a day or two ago to the 28th, 12:00 AM, a Wednesday instead of a Friday. I think they want to create the buzz earlier in the week so it doesn't get forgotten about over the weekend.

Also, I think the date is simply before the site is updated with all the juicy details about the phone, and not when the device is coming out. The TV commercials say November, so I'm willing to bet it will be Black Friday or so before the Droid is able to be ordered.

I think you have to stand back and look at one thing.. the second generation IPHONE was not hyped as the first. I think vzw has made the right choice by sayin yes we will have the S2 and putting all their focus on the droid, because they need a consumer based data phone.. hence the idont multi-task, but droid does.
