Thread: Motorola taking aim at RIM with the Droid Pro?

From the looks of Motorola's new device the Droid Pro, it looks as if they are pointing squarely at the BlackBerry device users. With such a crazy year already and many users mixed on whether to be a Droid user or BB user, this would seem like a good move on the part of Motorola with their first vertically-oriented candybar device with a QWERTY keyboard.

However, comparing it to the latest BlackBerry handset — the Bold 9780 — the resemblance between the two QWERTY keyboards are striking. The keyboard on the BlackBerry 9780 is definitely better. On almost every level, the DROID Pro outperforms the BlackBerry smartphones that Verizon Wireless carries. Yet, on a BlackBerry, you’re getting not only the best email experience on a mobile device, but a darn good voice calling experience as well.

LMAO...hey...they say the greatest form of flattery is imitation!! Keep up the good work RIM

The thing is, the Droid specs may look great, but the OS is still buggy when tested with too many apps. On the other hand OS 6 isn't perfect either, but does handle much better than OS 5. I'm holding my breath for QNX to come out on the PlayBook and be ported to new devices. I think this is RIM's baby they have been working on for a LONG time now.

Right there with yah.. I also do hope that they don't F' those of us who are BUYING new devices with no QNX. I expect the Torch and every device afterwords to be able to run QNX.. Otherwise, I will consider jumping ship.. That would be a very big, big, big **** move on their part..

You may be disappointed as I hear the new OS will only be on devices that it comes released with. I could be wrong though... don't jump yet!

I'm not jumping yet, but that would be a huge load of BS if the Torch+ don't get it.. Why even release these devices? Why not release the devices along with QNX and have an even bigger release?

Just bad planning. It will be like OS 6 not being compatible for the Storm because the Storm doesn't have the proper specs to handle OS 6.
