Has Verizon passed on the Google Phone

We all remember VZW's blunder when they passed up on the iPhone. VZW the all crippling provider that they are put too many restriction on Apple.

Now it looks like Verizon has said no to Google on their new upcoming phone which looks about as hot as grandma's hot apple pie. Looks like VZW has chosen to stay loyal to Moto Droid. Not sure that is the right decision but that is what the rumor mill is churning out right now. For more information on the story you can find it here.

<groan> This was the phone I was waiting for, too! You better not have messed this one up for me, VZW! I'll... I'll... Um. Still be stuck in my 2-year contract? Yuck. At least if I get too pissed, I've still got my old ET Fee. In the mean time, I guess I'll just keep hope (and my S1) alive!

No kidding. Especially as now there's yet more rumors about a phone like the Google phone coming to Verizon. I guess this is what I get for listening to rumors, huh? I'm just jealous because my wife gets a Droid today!

It's hard keeping track of all of the names but the nexus one, AKA Google Phone, will be an HTC phone however, it will not be coming to VZW at least not initially. Google will sell it either unlocked or via T-Mobile. It looks like people will be able to being ordering it Jan 5

As of the press release today, VZW will get the genuine Google Nexus One(albeit a CDMA version), and subsidize it, but not until "Spring". Phew. So T-Mobile people can field test it, and hopefully work out all the kinks before I get my hands on it...
