HTC Droid Eris – MR1 Software Release

New software (ROM: 1.16.605.1/Radio: 2.32.40.11.09) has been approved for the HTC Droid Eris (ADR6200); customers began to receive the software update notification Wednesday December 9, 2009.

Software updates for Android devices are deployed in three stages:

Stage 1: A limited quantity of customers nationally will receive the update on 12/09 & 12/10.
Stage 2: The next 48 hours will be used to ensure OTA success.
Stage 3: After the initial 48 hours, 200K customers per day will receive the update until all customers have received. The device does a 'check in' 2 times per day (in a 24 hour period).

Note: Customers should ensure 40% battery power and will not be able to use their device during the update process.

Change Log:

While on a call, pressing the Power/End button now will end the call when in screensaver mode.
On-call mute and speakerphone icon functionality is enhanced.
Upgraded functionality after activation eliminates the delay users were experiencing in receiving their first call.
Device now switches effectively from 1X mode to 3G.
Device no longer requires users to reselect a default email after power-cycling.
SMS and MMS messaging delivery is improved.
Eighty-character MMS/SMS message subject lines are now allowed.
Improved picture messaging functionality allows messages from LG phones to be opened.

Now what someone needs to do is download to their SD card and copy it so there could be a manual update as well for those who do not wish to wait for our illustrious VZW

Do you know how to access the recovery menu on the Eris?

DISREGARD I'm an idiot. I was looking for a button press sequence like the Droid.

Did you get it to work. Olta was having a heck of a time trying to get it installed

I downloaded the software and when I started to the install process it stopped and said it couldn't verify the information on my phone. It would not let me go any further.

My issue was a failed usb connections. I realized I had pc sync on auto kill . Once I took care of that, all went smooth from there on.

I am getting the same USB issue. Where do I fix the PC sync issue?

Make sure your pc sync is on on your Eris. It will be confirmed by "htc sync" showing up in notification bar when you connect phone to pc. Also if you are using any sort of app killer, make sure pc synchronization is not one of the items being killed. I had to retry multiple times before it worked. One time eris rebooted and lost connection when came back up. But once I got past that, all went fine.

Also, for the update to work, you do NOT have to have HTC sync installed on pc.

I had a little hiccup at the end. The installer on the PC said it was done but my phone still showed a progress bar. I stayed like that for about 20 minutes. So I decided to unplug my phone and do a good ole battery pull. Everything was good after that

Mine is running now. Thanks for the help. I will let you know how it goes!
