Okay, I can not take credit for this but I do testify that it worked. My camera now focuses every time I take a pic, plus the bardcode scanners work spot on.
You need to take a soft towel and thoroughly clean the camera lens area. I even wet mine with a camera lens spray for my D80.
That is all you need to do.

LOL. This is too simple.
That's because it turned out to be a coincidence. The Droid's camera software has a timestamp bug that occurs every 24.5 days, and causes the autofocus to be broken for the next 24.5 days. It's an on again/off again cycle. They're supposedly working on a fix. It's honestly one of the most ridiculously funny reasons i've ever heard for something like a camera autofocus to malfunction, but I am 100% serious.
