I really want the droid.... any advice

So I did an ETF with my old wireless company at the beginning of September and went with Verizon for their network coverage in my area. I got a 2 line family plan and got two Storm1 phones with the BOGO plan. I like my Storm but at the time I had no clue the Storm2 and Droid were about to come out. I was originally excited about the open GL announcement but then was dissapointed when I found out the the Storm1 was not supported. I have played with the Storm2 and Droid and really like the Droid, I don't think I will be one of those who get the e-mail or flyer about the early upgrade opportunity so does anyone know how I can get my hands on a Droid without haveing to pay full retail. I'm pretty sure I'm SOL but does anyone know of anything that I might be able to do?

add another line for 10 bucks a month

You can do a few things. Sell your s1 to cashforberries.com. Then add alone for the droid cancel it after u will ind uo paying around 300 total. Other the. That add a line fir the droid and activate a dumb phone on the line and keep it active for 2 years at 10 a month so 240 plus cost of droid

thanks, but I don't have a dumbphone to activate, can I just add the line and not use my storm1 and cancel the data plan for it?

I would suggest selling storm 1, then just buy the droid retail. It will still cost you around $250 with less hassle :)

Thanks for the advice Olta but full retain is $500... I don't thing I could get more than $200 for my storm. I may just tough it out and see what happens

I'm sure someone you know has a dumb phone you caqn use.

I added a line and paid 199. I exchanged the S2 for it and sold/traded my Tour for a phone for my wife.

I would say add a second line for $10 (total of $240) for 2 years + $200 for the phone = $440, Why not just go ahead and buy it at retail and avoid having to deal with a second line for 2 years and such

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I have came to my senses and realized that my Storm is fine, especially with the 5.0 OS. I just think I was so impressed by the Droid that it aggravated me that if I would have waited 2 more months I could have had it. Oh well, Maybe when I'm up for my 1 year upgrade something better will be out.... Passion maybe. :)

or get it on a one year contract like i did....270 for phone+ 120 for contract=390

see if a friend or family member has one...not sure but i don't think it even has to be a working phone,just a verizon phone.

To avoid any hassles, i'd simply pay full retail for the device. It sucks to have to, but if you want it bad enough, it's the most hassle-free, honest way to go about it. What I did was I put $250 of the cost onto my phone bill since that isn't due for a month, and ended up paying ~$350 out of pocket. This made the cost a little more bearable. Granted, i'm still paying $600 for a phone when all is said and done, but I will honestly say that after spending that much on my Storm1, for the Droid it is well worth it.

(And if anyone wonders why I paid full retail for my S1 and still am not eligible for upgrade pricing now, it's because I used my early upgrade pricing back in early June when I was extremely frustrated with my Storm to get a Pearl Flip for free, to hold me over until a 5.0 OS leaked for the Storm)

I use my mobile device pretty much more than any other gadget I own, so to me it's worth the money to have a device I enjoy.

I really wish I could do that but full retail is just out of the question right now. I just started with Verizon in August. I think I'll be eligible for some kind of upgrade with my VIP status in April, but we'll see.
