I run with the WiFi and Bluetooth off most of the time and with heavy use, I last all day....
First full day of use for me today. Bluetooth and wifi was off for the first half while I was at work. Since 2:30 I've been using pretty heavy with wifi ON and so far I'm at ~80% looking at the battery symbol.
I will say this: Battery life is way better than S2 (I know that's not why you ask but just putting it out there)
Battery life seems to be about on par with the S2. I suspect battery results in general will be worse than S2 because it is more user friendly. For example, browsing the web can take a heavy toll on battery life and because the web browser is fantastic on the Droid people will kill their battery. On my S2 all I generally used it for was emails, calls and BBM's so battery seemed to be better but in reality it is probably the same given equal conditions.
< completely concur with this... The web browsing is sooo awesome that i find myself on that while sitting at my PC ... and yes HEAVY browsing puts a hurtin on the battery life.
Also, to note.. application downloading/ installing should be done while on or near a charger(you cant NOT keep browsing and lookin through em or testing em out... Think PRINGLES commercials... )...
This seems to be the fastest battery killer IMO.

The reason I ask is so far battery life seems pretty piss poor on my eris. The first day it lasted 5 hours the second day a tad better. Granted I am using it a bit but.really no more than a normal smartphone. I read a post in a HTC forum saying HTC says it will take several days for the battery to.set in. Not a big believer in that but I guess we will see

I'm not buying the battery "settling in" either. And don't forget folks...do NOT put the Droid in a case with a magnet. That means no old BB cases and none with magnet closures. It puts the Droid in "Car" or "Home" mode, turning the screen on and DEVASTATING your battery.
The battery life on the Eris is pretty poor, for the day I had the Droid it was about the same thing, I kinda feel like the Eris has a little less of talk time but not much, they both lasted about half a day for me![]()

What kinda VZW signal are you guys getting where you use your Droids/Eris? I have had an Eris since friday and love it. But my battery life is crap. I'm getting 8 to 9 hours if I'm lucky. My apartment is in a weak VZW signal area and its seems to be killing my battery life. At work I have a pretty strong signal and seem to get better battery life. I'm not using the phone that heavy. Some web browsing, Twitter checking once an hour and some texting. I have wifi, gps, and bluetooth all turned off. My Storm1 battery would last a heck of a lot longer in the same area and situations. I wonder if the Droid pulls in a stronger radio signal because I love the Eris but hate the battery life!
It's called battery conditioning. It is the reason why most devices with rechargable LiION/LiPo batteries usually have a dire warning "Do not use until battery is fully charged" - also the reason most manufacturers recommend doing a full discharge/charge cycle the first several times the device is charged.
IMHO, it's not AS important as they make it out to be; but properly conditioning the battery can still lead to longer life overall.
I can confirm this. I have been using the Droid in a room with thick concrete walls that I never got signal in with the Storm 1 or 2. In this room I can still use data just fine!
Yes, I've heard of this too. When I first got the Droid, I charged it for 30 minutes in the car so I could use it while I was out. I used it for 2 hours non stop after that and used about a .25 of the battery - great. Now after two days it seems a little iffy because I still haven't let it fully drain before charging it. They say you should let it completely die and fully charge a couple times to get the most out of it on a regular basis.
Yes the Droid is a more active phone, but the battery is also bigger too. I think if the battery is cycled properly it will be better than it already is. Android software is good at managing memory from what I hear and probably is just as good at power management.
I've been running my Droid since Friday and it will last me a full day with moderate use. But I plan on investing on a car charger though.
The Droid battery looks bigger to me. As far as signal, you can't always go by the bars to compare two different phones. But you can go by the signal strength. Just here in my office at home I used to get a signal of -92, now with this phone it is -80 (way better!) in the same exact spot. It was almost always -92 with my Storm in here - I know because anytime I changed OS I would look to see if signal strength improved.
I agree with J. I have a friend who uses a droid and is on it pretty frequently. I use a storm 2 and we seem to have the same battery life.
