Thread: Moving Files from PC to Droid

I just got the Motorola Droid yesterday. Lovin this thing so far. Man it is FAST and how about all those apps? AWESOME! I was kind of shocked that there was no operator's manual included with this little fire cracker.
So my question is... Has anyone learned how to transfer files ( Music, Pics, Videos, Ringtones to be specific ) from your PC to your Droid? There's GOTTA be a way to do it. Why else would they include a USB cable?

The PDF manual is posted in the Droid forum too.

I won't get mine from FedEx until tomorrow but by memory, when you connect your phone to your PC via USB you need to go to the Notification Tray & select Mount if you want Drag & Drop access. Hope this helps too.

That is so far the easiest way to move stuff from your computer to Droid. Mount your SD card and then drag and drop files into the card.

What about backing up info, then restoring? How is that done? (Never had an android phone before, sorry)

No more need for that. Everything is backed up to your google account, apps, contacts, calendar email etc. So even if you get a brand new phone only takes but a few minutes to sync everything back

Wow! That's great! Not being a GMail user (I've had an account for a long time though) when loging in recently I did not notice this process. Will it become obvious after setting up my Droid? And are the backed up apps limited to Market Place apps (as well as any/all app created data like notes etc.)?
