Has anyone bought this phone yet? I'd love to hear some thoughts. Especially if you compare it to the Droid.

Yeah I would like to hear someones thoughts on this as well

I played with them active and side by side today.. The moto has flash, is faster, comes preloaded with 2.0. the Eris is beautiful in design but slow.. no faster than a storm IMHO, no flash on camera.. Neither model can tether. Just an FYI the 2.0 or 'eclair' software will not be available on this device til late 2010

That is incorrect from what I have read so far. If you root the phone (jailbrake) you can tether. just an FYI

RIght, but thats a given even if something 'cant' do it there are ways lol. I was just saying out of the box no tether.

What I can tell you great about the HTC is the freaking pinch zoom is flawless flickscroll wonderful.. Its very nice.. just a few things too much for me i dont need all that.

Yeah, too bad about the (comparitively) crappy lower-res/lower bit-depth screen on the HTC. Being a heavy web user, the Moto wins by default just by screen alone.

I would go play with them. But the sense ui is beautiful.

Plus pinch zoom. An actual call button and a beautiful design. Tempting. But I am waiting it out for now and scouring the internet for passion info.

The screen on the Eris is nice but nothing compared to the Droid. The difference is very large.

it is the moto is much better looking as far as once your viewing.. but feels like crap in your hand the eris is a joy to hold but doesnt look as good and its slow. If you were to put a gun to my head I would have to let you shoot me because I would worry about the longevity of the moto and the not so great greatness of the eris. and btw 'droid' or 'android' is the OS. the VZW is branding these before long you wont be able to say droid because its going to end up being droid by moto droid by HTC, droid by samsung.. you get the point.

Are both the Eris and Droid in stores now?

So I just bought a Droid. No I kid! But I did just get back from trying out both the Droid and Eris. If you ask me, the Droid beats the Eris hands down. The Eris is just a bit too small for my liking and feels slow, harder to navigate. I had a much easier, pleasant experience picking up the Droid than I did the Eris. In fact, I was a little impressed with the Droid. It isn't a bad phone from the few minutes I tried it out.

The slide out keypad wasn't bad at all in my opinion. To tell you the truth, I found it easier to type both on the keypad and touch screen on the Droid than on the Storm 2. But I do have a couple dislikes. The Droid felt a lot heaver and seemed a little slower than the Storm 2. After playing with the Droid, I picked up the Storm 2 and it just seemed so much faster and lighter. With all that said, I would consider the Droid if I had the money.

I can not believe what I just read, Sun thinking about a Droid....is there going to be an eclispse.
