I know today is officially launch day and many people have decided to go out and get the Droid. The UI is awesome and possibilities are endless.
For those of you on the fence or still in the process of choosing you new device keep in mind this is a 1st generation device. I have been told as many of us have been that you should stay away from 1st gen devices as the 2nd gen typically blows the doors off of the 1st version. I have gone with 1st gen items 2x in my life once in '98 when I bought a Dodge Intrepid (first year of the current body style). Within 2 years I had replaced transmission, window motors, timing belts and a lagging caliper problem that caused me to replace the breaks 2x a year. The second time I went with a 1st gen was the Storm 1. I have had 3 replacements countless OS updates (while entertaining, should not be necessary) it still did not come close to the experience of the S2.
Just a word of caution and it should factor into your decision making if your like me and cant afford to go out and buy every new device that comes out. The 2ng gen Droids are sure to be much better than the original just as the S2 it the Storm everyone wanted to buy when they got their original Storms.
I for one hope the Droid does not have nearly the issues that S1 had at launch (almost certainly will not have the OS issues) but there is always that potential with a 1st gen device.
