A video that might give some pause on the Droid

So salomondrin made a video comparing how fast the gmail comes over on the Storm2 vs Droid. Now I don't put a lot of stock in his videos as his setting have been different between phones in the past. But I feel it needs to be posted so everyone can have a look at it. If anyone has had the Droid in their hands, I would be interested in hearing your experience with the email.

I would be interested to know if he actually had the sync turned on or had it set to pull the email.. or if there is even an option for that

    Yeah my thoughts exactly

I have sent an email out to some people that have them or know someone that does to see exactly that.

Like I said I felt I need to post this video but without verifying that that setting were correct I just take it with a grain of salt. I will let you know what I hear back

Yep me as well IF the FDroid was set up correctly. Last I heard from one person I know that has it, it was as fast as BlackBerry (for gmail). So that is why I have a concern that the phone was not set up correctly

Luckily e-mail for me is NOT a dealbreaker, im more interested in its multimedia and web broswing abilities... email has always been a plus for me with my BB.

The e-mail showed received @ 3:31 on the Droid while the clock read 3:38 so I think the settings or Wi-Fi use must be off (set incorrect or interference). Gotta love that he's doing that from the bathroom! (Or so it looked).

Someone mentioned they are getting this device for multimedia. You will be disappointed in the following respect. At the moment there is no way to sync videos or pictures to your phone from your PC except through the SD Card, very annoying.

So the video is pretty accurate. First off there is no way to set Gmail sync times. It's supposed to be push but as you saw from Sal's video that is hardly the case. The email client on the Droid is on par with the iPhone frustrating. I spent most of my time refreshing email in order to get it. For me that is a deal breaker because I need instant email for others this may not be the case. But I timed how long it took for Gmail to arrive. Storm 2: 10 seconds. Droid: 5 minutes 25 seconds
