Thread: Discuss Official OS 7.1.0.523 For BlackBerry Bold 9900 Via AIS Thailand - Findings/Fixes

i don't really know what applications were shut down everytime it consumes the battery faster... however, been using this latest OS for 2 straight days now and the battery totally sucks... i can only use my battery for maximum of 6 hours... compared to .437, i can use it for 12 hours straight... downgraded to .437... that's more reliable in terms of battery...

Hello jaymisamis,

You say that you have been using this OS7.1.0.523 for 2 straight days, and the battery performance is not satisfactory to you.

Would you say 2 days is sufficient enough to call out a fair judgement on a brand new OS?

Have you pulled the battery out right after the install as you're supposed to let the OS time to settle?

I have personally tested all OS from .342 (very good), .355, .391, .402, .428, .437 (is terrible), and .523 is by far the best OS I've ever installed on my BlackBerry Bold 9900.

Anyone want to make a mirror link of the .exe... Blackberry keeps on giving me the 9900jAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel1646_PL5.1.0.393_A7.1.0.5 23_AIS_Thailand but its actually 7.0.0.14 packed inside.

Edit: Found a way around it.. Blackberry Desktop found the update weirdly.

I still can't find BB Maps I did the update again using the BBHtool and was sure I didn't mark bb maps. Plug the cel with bbdm, click on applications and sisnt have bb maps

Hello bountyhunter53, this thread is OS7.1.0.523 for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, not OS7.0.0.14.

When you download the OS via the download link, install OS7.1.0.523 to your desktop (remove vendor.xml), and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, it will find the latest OS via Local Installation, now follow the prompts.

BlackBerry Maps will only show up when you're subscribed to a wireless data plan.

I got all the requirements. And had the app before the update. I still don't know why it was removed when I did the update using the bbhtool

Can you download BlackBerry Maps via your BlackBerry browser?

Via blackberry.com it gave me this error: BlackBerry Maps

Go to BlackBerry Desktop Manager, plug in your device via USB, and re-install BlackBerry Maps, click Apply.

The device will likely reboot.

Tried that already and did it again and bb maps doesn't appear on the list
Any idea how or where I could get the app to import it over there?

I"ll be back to find out why you're having this issue, in the meantime, I strongly suggest you contact your carrier and ask them if they can take a quick look at your Service Book.

I wipe off the cel and went back to 7.0 and bb maps wasn't there. Restore an old back up and neither. Now I'm back to .523. Is there is any way you guys could send me the app so I can import it to bbdm?

To hell with it! After downloading and installing the new .523 file and having it unzip as .402 7 times and on 2 different computers, I QUIT. Program files states it's .523, but all sub files with the exception of the deleted vendor file are .402. I've un installed, erased files, you name it I've done it. I'm going to the bar.

When you click on the page to download the OS, it appears all the os available for that carrier. Make sure you click on the first one of the page because the second one is the 7.0. It almost get me too

P.S. I use the loader and BB Maps was there. Don't know why it appears there and not on the bbdm. But I got it back

Also, be sure that when you go to download that you are looking at the application build of the OS as there are a couple different numbers there in the details. It should be 7.1.0.523.

I found this may help. If you go to loader files in the RIM folder you will see all the OS builds you installed. It's best to delete those folders just to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch.
