    Hi richrab, when you go to Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features, look for BlackBerry Device Software v7.1.0 for the BlackBerry 9900 smartphone look for prior versions which you won't need, and delete them.

    For anyone who wishes to find where these file folders, they are located in your Windows PC, look for (C: )>Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Shared>Loader Files, here are the folders which contain the BlackBerry OS.

    When you delete the BlackBerry OS from Add and Remove, these folders should be gone as well, but in case they are not, look for them above, which I have provided for you.

    Also, if anyone needs the latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software version 7.0.0, look below;

    BlackBerry Desktop Software for PC

    Thank you.

    Thanks Grim, for some reason un installing removes the os from the program list, but leaves the old files in tact. You've answered my question, thanks!

    Wow, sorry to be a pain, the source of the problem was the .523 file downloaded from RIM turned out to be version 7.0.14 form Oct. 2011 (File name correct, contents incorrect). Luckily my install didn't downgrade. I'm sure this was a fluke, but other members should be on the look out!

    I updated yesterday and it runs perfect so far. But I notice the device analizer and blackberry maps are gone. Try to download bb maps from bb.com and this is the msg that I got "Notice
    Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support BlackBerry Maps." Any idea where I could get BB Maps?

    Hello panco469,

    In regards to OS7.1.0.523 for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, apparently BlackBerry Device Analyzer is missing from this OS, but there is a solution to that issue.

    I will speak further about that once I install the OS later on today.

    As for BlackBerry Maps, plug in your BlackBerry Bold 9900 via USB to Desktop Manager, go to Applications tab, scroll down to BlackBerry Maps, and click the + sign, then click on the bottom right to start the installation.

    Thank you.

    Ok, hello everyone at BlackBerryOS.com, after spending some serious time with Official OS7.1.0.523 for the BlackBerry Bold 9900, I would like to share with you what I have done today.

    • Always back up your BlackBerry device with DM Desktop Manager Software for PC version 7.0.0
    • Back up your third party applications via BBSAK, or BBHTool.
    • Back up any specific or all .COD files via BBHTool (preferred) if you wish (I highly recommend you backup at least the .COD files for BlackBerry Device Analyzer (I'll get to that part below).
    • Once everything has been backed up, and you feel confident, wipe your BlackBerry device.
    • Wiping your device will completely wipe everything permanently.
    • Your SD micro card will not be affected by wiping your BlackBerry device.

    I have taken several screen shots, so I have tried to make this as simple as possible.

    I am aware that BlackBerry Device Analyzer is missing from OS7.1.0.523, but I have the solution below.

    Using BBHTool, save the selected .COD files from your BlackBerry connected device, look for these 4 .COD files.

    This screen shot shows you I have made a new folder on my desktop, which contains all 4 .COD files for the BlackBerry Device Analyzer feature, which were copied over from BBHTool.

    Return back to BBHTool, and click Install.

    A pop up window will appear, search for the 4 .COD files, and attach them to install to your connected device.

    Your BlackBerry will reboot upon successful installation of these 4 .COD files.

    Go to Options>Device>Advanced System Settings>BlackBerry Device Analyzer

    Here are some other screen shots I have taken to share with you.

    As you can see below, a new feature exists called Application Resource Monitor.

    The other previous OS features are included, such as;
    Battery Saving Mode
    Media Server
    Parental Controls
    Mobile Hotspot
