Official: OS 7.1.0.342 for BlackBerry Bold 9900 Via Telenor Norway

Official OS 7.1.0.342 has been released for the Bold 9900 from Telenor Norway.

If you have a Bold 9900 its time once again to get out that USB cord and give your device a fresh OS, and as always, please remember to let us know about any findings/fixes in the comments below.

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Battery life has taken a hit for me as compared to 284. I was getting an astonishing 11 to 12 hours from 100% to reserve with 3G, occasionally wifi, Twitter, Whatsapp, BBM and email being constantly used.

This has gone down to about 8-9 hours.

    What about you guys?

Well that's on the down side. How long have you had the update installed? I ask because it sometimes takes a good couple of days to settle in.

Been 3 days now? And probably 4 reboots. Could see the settling in trend, where the life goes a little higher...but not as much as 284. That build did the job for me. UNBELIEVABLE.

EDIT: Speaking of changes in this build, the battery icon for the Battery Saving Mode option has changed. Just...thought I'd let everyone know. :P

I had previously installed OS7.1.0.284 on my BlackBerry Bold 9900, then I wiped my device, installed the leaked OS7.1.0.342 (not to mention, it definitely was a unique way of upgrading a new OS, Bold 9900 owners know this).

Since then, OS7.1.0.342 Official was released just over 2 days ago, courtesy of Telenor Norway.

Some Bold 9900 owner's may notice an improvement between the leaked OS7.1.0.342, and the Official OS7.1.0.342, but I guess every Bold 9900 is unique in its own ways.

Personally, since I have "upgraded" to the Official OS7.1.0.342, I can tell you, when in comparison of the previous OS leak, this is better.

I had experienced a bit of lag with the leaked OS7.1.0.342, maybe it was an application I had installed, maybe it some unforeseen issue that didn't catch my attention, but it doesn't matter anymore.

All that matters to any Bold 9900 owner, if an OS install works for them, that's what counts....enjoy

This official OS fixed the lag (for me). If I said before that the Leaked OS .342 runs smoother than .284, I can say that this one is on top of the two. Try it out and you'll be amazed!

That's great to hear oceanghost, which begs the question, why would T-Mobile block NFC in the first place?

The fact this OS has enabled you to access NFC is great news for many BlackBerry Bold 9900 users, another positive reason to upgrade to this official OS7.1.0.342.

    Thank you.

    Exclamation

I currently have 7.0.0.579 (2395) and I have been trying to upgrade to 7.1.0.284 and 7.1.0.342 with no luck. The problem I'm having is that the app loader is not picking any of the OSs I have installed.

I tried using BBSAK and BBHTool and each of them opened app loader and came to this point:

Official: OS 7.1.0.342 for BlackBerry Bold 9900 Via Telenor Norway-app_loader.jpg

I even tried BB Desktop Manager 6.1 and it didn't pick up any of the OSs either:

Could someone help me out here? I've upgraded lots of phones lots of times and I've never ran into these issues before so I'd really appreciate the help.

    Thanks

Hello tuntun7, a couple of things...

    1. Make sure you have deleted both vendor xml files. See here for how to find both of them... How To search for & delete your vendor.xml file.
    2. Make sure you have deleted any older OS' off of your computer and only one newly installed OS remains.

After the installation of the new OS on your computer, get your USB cable, connect it to your computer AND you have to make sure to delete the vendor xml files. To do that, follow this > How To search for & delete your vendor.xml

After deleting the vendor xml files, click the Loader and follow the prompt to install the new OS to your device:

    In XP: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
In Windows XP, double click the file named "Loader".

    In Vista: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Windows Vista/7: Right click the file named "Loader" and choose "Run as Administrator"

Let us know the outcome ok

    Hello tuntun7

Can you verify your profile for us, I see a BlackBerry Bold 9000, not Bold 9900. I believe this could simply be a numerical error.

I'm sure you don't want to attempt installing a Bold 9000 OS into a Bold 9900, correct?

    Thank you.

    Hi tuntun7,
I just upgraded a my friend 9900 from 7.0.0.579 to 7.1.0.342 (All Language - Singapore). I got the same issue as you first time then I found that my friend SIM was not registered BIS -> I put my SIM (BIS already) into my friend 9900 then the upgrade process goes smoothly. Yes, make sure to delete 2 vendor files. After upgrade successful, I can use the old SIM (no BIS) normal and can do update again without my SIM (BIS).
    Hope this help!

YES. That is correct. I had this issue too, it's quite simple really when you get it.

    Tuntun,
Follow the instructions from ToraxCefiro. It's clear. Bet you will get the update done. Do remember that if you all out there have any problem with your phone, do post it on BBOS.

If I install this Official OS to my 9900, will it lock the phone to only recognize "TELENORWAY" simcards? Or it will also recognize any carrier sim??????
    thanks!
