if you can illustrate with screen shot it would be benefical for future updates also. help needed in this.
Go to the desktop manager, file, update. it will tell you that there are no new updates. click on the left "view other updates" and select the .284 because you upgrade it with the .342 and done
That's what I just did
It won't tell you if is old or new. You will select the same .284 that you got installed on your phone. But, when you pasted the files on that folder, you updgrade the .284 with the .342 but will still show up like .284. Just open the desktop manager, click on file and then update. Then on view other version, and select the .284. When is done, you'll have the .342 on the phone.
Hello avianu3009, if you see if the image I have uploaded for everyone to see you have 2 OS side by side (OS220.127.116.112 and the already installed OS18.104.22.1684 (or any other previous OS install (for Bold 9900 Only) *.284 preferred* I have opened up my newest OS22.214.171.1242 by visiting:
Computer > Local Disk (C: ) > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > OS126.96.36.1992
Open up the folder, and either drag and drop the entire folder contents to:
Computer > Local Disk (C: ) > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > OS188.8.131.524
(if Windows 7 pops up a message to continue to copy and paste) > press OK
This may take a few minutes as you're overwriting folder OS184.108.40.2064 from OS220.127.116.112 now.
This folder is effectively a 330MB file once it is extracted from our Download Area.
Once you have done this, all you have to do is connect your BlackBerry Bold 9900 device to an available USB port from your Windows Vista/7 PC, and use either BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.1 (stable), or BBH-Tool (advanced).
Wait until BlackBerry Desktop Manager has connected your device.
Now scroll to Updates, and look for OS18.104.22.1684 (this is the NEW OS22.214.171.1242).
Follow prompts to update your BlackBerry device, and enjoy the new OS126.96.36.1992 on your BlackBerry Bold 9900.
