You need to go to your control panel and go to programs, and then remove any previous OS that was installed. Leave the one that you want to install.
Then you need to install the OS through the Loader. The loader can be located in the following directory...
In XP: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
In Windows XP, double click the file named "Loader".
In Vista: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Windows Vista/7: Right click the file named "Loader" and choose "Run as Administrator"

The official. I'm at the loader right now and i can only see the apps. Not the os :(
I uninstall the device manager and open the loader and nothing. Still stuck on the 284

I think my problem is the vendor. I didnt delete it. Lets see later
Oh I see.. Try to delete the Vendol xml files.. I think there's 1 or 2 of them.. Use the link posted earlier on How to find and Delete it.. After deletion, you can proceed with clicking the Loader and follow the prompts to update your device :) (y)Quote:
