So, after copy and paste, run the bbH tools and choose "launch loader" yes?
Correct, copy and paste the folder's content into OS7.1.0.284, then (Run as administrator-I prefer) the BBH-Tool program, launch the loader, or shrink the OS if you know what you're doing (please don't if you're not sure).

Launch the application loader, and follow the prompts to upgrade OS7.1.0.342

Would a screen shot help you further? Let me know ok

    Thank you

    Cool

    Dear Mr Grim,
    Thank you for your reply.

I have managed to update by BB OS using BBH ... yea..
so far I noticed the response time to keys & loading are faster than .284.

IMPORTANT: SIGNIFICANT RESPONSE TO touchscreen while charging.
during charging period, previous os up to .284, still cause the touchscreen response behave erratically
and inaccurately. I basically could not use the touch screen well until I had to plug it all the time.

This leaked, however, solves the problem!
Hooray... now I can use 9900 even while charging.. cool...

Tx again Mr Grim & Mr Ice !!

    ALL the BEST...

    Hello avianu3009,

You don't have to remove the folder's contents in OS7.1.0.284, just grab the OS7.1.0.342 folder open it up copy the entire folder's contents and paste all of it into the older OS 7.1.0.284

When you connect your BlackBerry Bold 9900 device, look for OS7.1.0.284 (it's the updated "OS .342" folder) don't worry.

Hope that helps you or anyone else.

    Thank you.

Go to the desktop manager, file, update. it will tell you that there are no new updates. click on the left "view other updates" and select the .284 because you upgrade it with the .342 and done

    That's what I just did

    Thanks Grimreaper

It won't tell you if is old or new. You will select the same .284 that you got installed on your phone. But, when you pasted the files on that folder, you updgrade the .284 with the .342 but will still show up like .284. Just open the desktop manager, click on file and then update. Then on view other version, and select the .284. When is done, you'll have the .342 on the phone.

Anytime panco469, glad to hear it worked out for you, unlike other BlackBerry Bold 9900 members, who are still experiencing issues how to get OS7.1.0.342, but that's what I am here for

Hello avianu3009, if you see if the image I have uploaded for everyone to see you have 2 OS side by side (OS7.1.0.342 and the already installed OS7.1.0.284 (or any other previous OS install (for Bold 9900 Only) *.284 preferred* I have opened up my newest OS7.1.0.342 by visiting:

    Computer > Local Disk (C: ) > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > OS7.1.0.342

Open up the folder, and either drag and drop the entire folder contents to:

    Computer > Local Disk (C: ) > Program Files > Common Files > Research In Motion > Shared > Loader Files > OS7.1.0.284

(if Windows 7 pops up a message to continue to copy and paste) > press OK

This may take a few minutes as you're overwriting folder OS7.1.0.284 from OS7.1.0.342 now.

This folder is effectively a 330MB file once it is extracted from our Download Area.

Once you have done this, all you have to do is connect your BlackBerry Bold 9900 device to an available USB port from your Windows Vista/7 PC, and use either BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.1 (stable), or BBH-Tool (advanced).

Wait until BlackBerry Desktop Manager has connected your device.

Now scroll to Updates, and look for OS7.1.0.284 (this is the NEW OS7.1.0.342).

Follow prompts to update your BlackBerry device, and enjoy the new OS7.1.0.342 on your BlackBerry Bold 9900.
