Thumbs up Official 7.1.0.746 on Mobilicity for the 9810

Just a heads up to any Mobilicity users. They have officially released 7.1.0.746 for the 9810 4 days ago. Just checked the carrier downloads section on RIM's site and sure enough - new OS! Have no idea what this release does yet as I haven't updated. But I plan on it.

I can't paste a direct link here yet as I don't have 5 posts but this will work if you copy/paste into FireFox: ca.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html and search for Mobilicity on that page. It's at the very bottom of the page. The link will take you to an HTTPS page and you will select the 9810 from the dropdown. They'll make you fill out a retarded form too...

You're welcome Joe! Also, thanks for moving my post to the right forum. Sorry about miss posting it originally.

So far this upgrade seems a LOT faster to me. Mind you, the update bricked my phone and I had to restore fresh from Desktop Software. But once I got the OS running it was NOTICEABLY faster to connect and download apps from App World. I will see how things play out over the next few days but so far I am loving it compared to the old Mobilicity release. FYI, Hotspot functionality is still there also and works fine.

For those of you taking the plunge, do a backup before you do things. Also, it would be a good idea to backup your apps using BBSAK too. I didn't and had to redownload all mine from App World. It went well though.

I'll report findings over time here...

Good to hear that hotspot is working. Doesn't happen often, but yes, sometimes a OS update doesn't go quite right.

Update: Well this thing FLIES now! I mean it's like a brand new phone compared to the old release (.378). The interface is super snappy and applications load almost instantaneously. My GPS locks in much faster than it did before and browsing the web is much smoother and renders a lot faster using Opera Mini and BB's browser. This thing rocks! Its too early to note battery differences still. There is an icon shortcut to Application Resource Monitor which is new to me (had to go hunt for it otherwise).

Though I had to upgrade the hard way (from scratch) I am glad I did. This is definitely a keeper and a definite speed improvement over .378. I am happy again...

PS. Here is the URL to BBSAK: bbsak.org Do yourself a favour and download it and learn how to use it - don't skip this step. I did and paid the price...never again.

Yea, I noticed that the higher builds from about .700 onward are much better. They really did some major improvements.

Good to hear the OS is working good for you!

I tried upgrading from AT&T .694 but got the message from AppLoader that there was no available software for my device (not a quote, but close pararphrase). Any thoughts or hints?

    Curious,
    George
